In the era of mass media, the public is living amid abundant information and images. As a neutral image of women appeared, the public’s interest in their costumes in TV drama series increased. This interest created a tomboy look trend, and the tomboy look became a tool for modern women who regard individual personality as important to expressing their personality. Therefore this study aims to define the theoretical background of the tomboy look and the age-specific patterns and features in order to establish the concept of the look. Several dramas such as “The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince,” “You're Beautiful,” “Take Care of Us, Captain,” “Wild Romance” and “My Husband Got a Family,”』 which showed a tomboy look and was an issue with the public were selected. The tomboy look in TV drama series was analyzed based on fashion design factors, and the visual factors of the tomboy look were established.

현대 사회에서 각종 매체를 통해 중성적인 이미지의 여성상이 대중들에게 이슈화 되고 있다. 이러한 관심은 톰보이 룩이라는 하나의 트렌드를 생산해 냈으며, 톰보이 룩은 개인의 개성을 중시하는 현대 여성들에게 자신의 개성을 표현할 수 있는 하나의 도구가 되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 톰보이 룩의 개념을 정립하기 위해서 톰보이 룩의 발생 배경과 시대별 양상 및 특징에 관하여 이론적 배경을 정립하고자 한다. 트렌디 드라마 속 톰보이 룩이 대중에게 이슈가 되었던 드라마 󰡔커피프린스 1호점󰡕, 󰡔미남이시네요󰡕, 󰡔부탁해요 캡틴󰡕, 󰡔난폭한 로맨스󰡕,󰡔넝쿨째 굴러온 당신󰡕을 선정하여 드라마 속 톰보이 룩을 분석한 결과, 직선적인 실루엣과 무채색, 활동적이고 캐주얼한 디테일 등을 많이 사용되었으며, 이를 토대로 톰보이 룩에 관한 시각적 요소를 정립하였다. 그 결과를 바탕으로 중성적인 개성을 표현하고자 하는 여성을 위한 톰보이 룩을 개발하였다.
