When European Christian churches witness to the Gospel in the European society, where Christendom is increasingly declining, they realize the fact that the division of the church is an obstacle to the authenticity of their witness. Although the Rational Choice Theory claims that wherever there is competition, there is also a growth of Christianity, some churches in Europe neither propose nor pursue competition with other churches or among local congregations within a single church in an effort to facilitate church growth. ToJong Sil Lee graduated from Sungsil University majoring in Studies of History(B.A.), Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary majoring in Theology(M.Div.), and worked as an executive secretary in World Mission Department of Presbyterian Church of Korea(1988-1992), and completed courses at the Post-Graduate Diploma in Mission Studies, Selly Oaks Colleges, UK 1992-1993, and then has been serving as a missionary since 1993, appointed as representative missionary in Czech Republic from the PCK in 1996. 154 선교와 신학 33집the contrary, they head towards ecumenical solidarity andcooperation among all churches at the level of regions orcountries on the whole European continent. For the Korean church, which pursues mission on the basisof the culture of competition among individualistic churches,it is not easy to understand the process and course of theevangelistic actions in the European churches. There are voices in some Korean churches calling for"evangelization of Europe", but these, in actual fact, only takean advantage of the situation in and statistics on Europeanchurches as well as voices in the European society regardingChristianity to legitimize their own opinions and experience. This issue also emerges with regard to foreign missions ofthe Korean churches which do not have enough objectivenesswhile researching their mission field. A certain prominent representative from the Evangelicalmissionary circles of the Korean churches admitted that theyhad attempted to view and deal with missionary activities inEurope based on the assumption that "the European church isdead" - however, the result did not come as expected. To get involved in mission to evangelize Europe in theright way not from the perspective of the Korean churches,but from the insider's European view, one first needs to listencarefully to the experience of the European churches. The author seeks explore the understanding and ways inwhich the European Protestant churches pursue evangelizationin the critical dialog with the document by CPCE "Evangelising155Jong Sil Lee An understanding of Evangelism of Protestant churches in Europe based on the experiencefrom missionary work in the Czech Republic: A proposal of a PCK missionary model in Europe- Protestant perspectives for the Churches in Europe", paying particular attention to the mission of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (hereafter ECCB), which is one of the four founding member churches of CPCE. The author is currently active within ECCB as a missionary on the basis of the mission agreement between the Korean PCK, to which the author belongs, and ECCB. In addition, on the basis of his missionary experience, the author seeks to propose a model for the PCK European mission, which could be entitled as "mission by way of a fellowship with local churches". Furthermore, he will specify the tasks which should facilitate the pursuit of this model - "the transformation of the faith of the laity to the public faith", "the development of interdependent partnership", and "the overcoming of the individualistic ecclesiology which is based on the theory of numerical church growth".

유럽 기독교회들은 기독교세계(Christendom)가 붕괴된 유럽사회에서복음을 증언할 때 교회의 분열이 증언의 진정성을 방해한다는 사실을 깨닫게 되어-사회학에서 경쟁을 통해서 기독교 증가를 보여주는 합리적 선택이론(RCT: the Rational Choice Theory)이 있지만-유럽의 그 어떤 교회들도교회성장을 위해 신앙고백이 다른 교회들 간의 또는 지역 교회들 간의 경쟁을 제안하지도 선택하지도 않는다. 오히려 복음화를 위해 지역별, 국가별또는 유럽대륙 전체 교회들 간의 에큐메니칼 연대와 협력을 다양한 차원에서 추진하고 있다. 경쟁적인 개교회주의 문화의 토대 위에서 선교를 실천하고 있는 한국교회가 유럽교회들의 복음화 실천과정과 방식을 이해하기 쉽지 않다. 심지어 유럽선교의 필요성을 주장하는 사람들이 각자 자신의 경험과관점을 정당화하기 위해 유럽교회의 상황과 통계들 그리고 기독교회에 대한 유럽사회의 목소리를 “제 논에 물대기 식”으로 사용하고 있다는 비판을받을 소지가 없지 않다. 이것은 선교지 리서치의 객관성과 전문성이 결여된 한국교회 해외선교의 중요한 문제점 가운데 하나이다. 한국 복음주의 선교진영의 한 지도자는 그동안 “‘유럽교회는 죽었다’는것을 전제로 유럽선교를 접근했으나 기대만큼 결 과가 없었다”고 하였다. 바른 선교를 위해 한국교회의 관점이 아닌 유럽의 내부자적 관점으로유럽교회들의 복음화 경험을 경청하며 선교지로서 의 유럽을 이해하는 것이 우선되어야 한다. 필자는 CPCE의 “복음화-유럽교회들을 위한 프로테스탄트 관점들”(Evangelising – Protestant perspectives for the churches in Europe) 문서와CPCE가 설립한 4개의 프로테스탄트 교회 가운데 하나이고 필자의 소이종실 체코선교 경 험을 통해 본 “유럽복음화와 한국교회의 역할”:P CK 유럽선교 모델 제안 119속단체인 대한예수교장로회(이하 PCK)와 선교협정을 맺고, 그 협정에 의해 필자가 선교사로 활동하고 있는 체코형제복음교회(Českobratrská církevevangelická, 이하 ČCE)의 선교를 중심으로 유럽 개신교회들의 복음화 이해와 실천방식을 살펴보려 한다. 그리고 필자의 선교경험을 통해 유럽선교를 위한 PCK의 “지역교회와의 교제를 통한 선교” 모델과 그 모델을 수용하기 위해 “평신도들의 믿음을 공적 믿음으로 전환”, “상호의존성의 파트너십 개발”, “숫적 교회성장이론에 토대를 둔 개교 회주의적 교회론 극복”의 과제를 제안해보려 한다.
