The immigrants including migrant workers, inter-marriage men and women, multicultural families are becoming important members of Korean society as well as Korean churches. The number of people who reside having the immigrant background is about 1.5 million which accounts for 2.9% of the total population of Korea. Korean society is now going to enter into multicultural society which should coexist with people who come from different cultural, historical, and social backgrounds. It is important to note that the immigrants have faced with identity crisis when they are struggling to adapt themselves to new circumstances in Korea. Firstly, in this paper, I would like to investigate the current situation of immigrants as well as the multicultural mission of the local churches and centres in the Honam region in order to aid the understanding of the Christians. Secondly, it is important to note that we should look at the distinctive features of multicultural mission which have been expanded from migrant workers to inter-marriage women and multicultural families. Thirdly, investigating local churches and centres of The Presbyterian Church of Korea(PCK) which have served multicultural mission, I will suggest the organic solidarity of these local churches and centres in the Honam region. The National Mission Ministry of the PCK have checked up the state of multicultural mission in 2011. The Association of the Multicultural Mission in the Honam region also have investigated the members of the multicultural mission in 2009. However, it did not match the list of churches and centres of multicultural mission of the two institution. In this point, we should suggest the necessity of the close solidarity among the PCK and the local churches. Fourthly, we will classify multicultural mission into five types as follows: the type of church-centred worshipping community, the type of church-operating centre, the type of migrant centre or Non Profit Organisation, the type of charging from government and local government, the type of self-support group. Finally, I briefly propose four developmental directions of multicultural mission in the Honam region.

이주노동자, 결혼이민자, 이주아동(청소년), 다문화가정을 포함한 이주민이 한국사회의 구성원으로 살아가면서 한국교 회의 중요한 일원으로 편입되고 있다. 전체인구의 2.9%에 해당되는 이주민이 더불어 살아가며 급속도로 다문화사회로 진입하고 있음에도 불구하고 한국교회와 그리스도인에게 있어서 다문화선교는 낯선 주제처럼 보인다. 호남지역에 거주 하는 이주민을 위한 다문화선교는 이주민에 대한 현황을 파악하는 동시에 다문화선교를 담당하는 교회와 기관에 대해 서 고찰하는 것에서 출발한다. 이 글은 첫째로 호남지역 다문화선교의 현황을 파악하고 그 특징을 살펴본다. 호남지역에 거주하는 이주민의 현황을 법 무부 출입국·외국인정책본부의 통계와 행정안전부의 통계를 중심으로 살펴봄으로써 이주민에대한 지역교회와 그리스 도인의 이해를 돕는다. 둘째로 호남지역 다문화선교의 특징을 고찰함으로써 이주노동자 중심의 다문화선교에서 결혼이 민자를 대상으로 확장하는 다문화선교의 현황을 살펴본다. 정부와 지자체에서위탁을 받은 기관과 센터를 교회가 운영 하는 곳에 대한 분석을 통해서 지역교회의 다문화선교 현황을 파악한다. 셋째로 호남지역에서 다문화선교를 담당하는 예장 통합 교단의 교회와 기관에 대한 파악을 통해서 유기적관계의 필요성을 제안한다. 예장 통합 국내선교부가 파악한 교회와 기관과호남지역 다문화선교협의회에 속한 교회와 기관의 상이점을 지적함으로써총회와 지역노회의 긴밀한 협 력의 필요를 인식하게 한다. 넷째로 호남지역다문화선교를 담당하는 예장 통합 교단에 속한 교회와 기관을 다섯 가지의 유형으로 분류하여 소개한다. 교회 중심의 예배공동체 사역 유형, 교회부설 센터 중심의 사역 유형, 이주민센터 혹은 비 영리 민간단체의 독립적 사역 유형, 정부와 지자체로부터 위탁운영 사역 유형, 자조모임 사역 유형으로 나누어서 살펴 본다. 다섯째 호남지역 다문화선교의 미래지향적 방향을네 가지로 간단하게 제안한다. 호남지역에서 진행되고 있는 다문화선교에 대한 현황을 파악하는 일은쉽지 않다. 교단이나 이주민협의체에서 파악할 수 없는 교회와 기관이 많기도 하지만 다양한 관심과 목적을 갖고 진행하는 다문화선교를 유형별로 분류하는 것도 복합 적이기 때문이다. 광주광역시와 전라남도와 전라북도에서다문화선교를 실시하는 대표적인 교회와 기관을 간략하게 소 개하는 수준에머무르는 한계가 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 호남지역에서 전개하고 있는 다문화선교의 현황을 파악하고 미래지향적 방향을 제시하는 시도는 다문화선교에 관심을 갖고 있는 지역교회와 그리스도인을 위한 중요한 단초를 제 공한다. 호남지역의 예장 통합 교단에 속하면서 다문화선교를 담당하는 교회와 기관을 파악함으로써 광주광역시를 포 함해서 전라남도와 전라북도를 포괄하는 다문화선교협의체를 형성하는 계기를 마련할 수 있다. 다문화선교는 이주민이 한국사회에 올바로 적응할 수 있도록 인권과복지의 측면에서 지원하고 관심을 갖는 동시에 목 회와 선교의 측면에서 접근해야 한다. 따라서 이주민에 대한 현황을 파악해야 할 뿐만 아니라 그들과 더불어 살아가야 하는 한국사회의 구성원과 한국교회의 그리스도인을위한 다수자 교육도 병행해야 한다. 다문화선교가 지닌 복합적이고 다각적인 측면을 고려하면서 호남지역에 위치한 교회와 이주민 지원기관이 교단이나 교파를 초월해서 협력함으로써 효 율적인 다문화선교를 진행하도록연대할 필요가 있다
