Drastic industrialization and informationization is leading the Korean society into aging society. Therefore The Senior mission became a leading issue. The author reviews the theological definition and its boundary of senior mission. The study recognizes the understanding of the current situation, issues, and directions to provide new energy to Korean mission in crisis, and to lead missionaries to proclaim the light of Gospel through unity and cooperation of whole generation. Church Korea has a duty to contribute in "the age of World Christianity" by preparing utilization method of spiritual devotions and expertises of senior missionaries and their mobilization, training, dispatch, support, networking, and cooperation. Until recently, the mission has been minister centered, however, now it includes seniors, non-pastors, professionals. Including Korea, the numbers of non-pastor missionaries exceeds pastor-missionaries. Seniors need institutional measures for the efficient use of their experiences and expertises for world mission in "the age of World Christianity."Therefore, the author discusses the present condition and theological suggestion for vitalizations of senior mission to bring a understanding what senior mission is, and proper direction in theological sense to the church and Christians. Again, the Korean Mission is losing its future as the numbers of children and teenagers decreases. The study give new hope by including missionaries of all generations. A literature search is the major part of the paper. The sources are from the headquarter of "Senior Mission Korea", the biannual convention for seniors since 2007and from others. The study has a limit for the lack of academic sources. There must be case studies, biblical and theological examinations, and practical programs for further researches.

급격한 산업화와 정보화로 고령화사회에 진입한 한국사회에서 시니어선교는 중요한 시대적 과제로 떠올랐다. 필자는 시니어 선교의 정의와 방법에 대해 신학적으로 검토하였다. 본 연구는 시니어 선교에 대한 현황과문제점 및 방향을 교 회와 그리스도인들이 이해함으로써 선교의 위기를 맞고 있는 한국교회 선교에 새로운 활력을 제공하며, 모든 세대의 선 교사들이 연합과 협력으로 복음의 빛을 효과적이며 효율적으로 전하도록 하는 목적을 가진다. 한국교회는 시니어 그리스도인들의 영적 헌신과 축적된 전문성을 세계선교에 활용하는 방안을 마련하고 그들의 동원과 훈련, 파송과 후원, 네트워킹과 협력 등의 ‘세계기독교’ 시대의 선교에 기여하도록 할 책무가 있다. 지금까지는 목회자 중심과 문화권 관점의 선교시대를 거쳐 왔지만 이제는시니어 평신도, 전문인도 선교의 핵심적인 한 축이 되는 평신도 선교시대가 도래했다. 한국을 비롯하여 다른 외국 선교사는 이미 평신도 선교사 숫자가 목회자 선교 사 숫자를 추월했다. 시니어들이 교회와 사회에서 축적된삶의 경륜과 전문 지식을 활용하여 ‘세계기독교’ 시대의 ‘세계 선교’에 소중하게 쓰임받도록 관심과 제도적 장치를 마련해야 할 것이다. 따라서 필자는 고령화사회에 진입한 한국사회에서 시니어 선교의 현황과 활성화 방향을 연구하면서 시니어 선교가 무 엇을 말하며, 어떻게 선교하는 것이 시니어 선교가 신학적으로 바른 것인지를 교회와 그리스도인들이 이해하도록 규명 하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 점차 어린이와 청소년및 청년 세대가 줄어들고 있어 선교의 위기를 맞고 있는 한국교회 선교에새로운 활력을 제공하여 모든 세대의 선교사들이 온전한 복음을 전세계에전하도록 하는 데 있다. 연구방법은 주로 문헌연구를 하되, 2007년부터 매2년마다 개최되고있는 ‘시니어 선교한국’ 본부의 자료와 문헌 중심으 로 진행한다. 시니어 선교에 대한 학문적 자료가 매우 미흡하여 연구의 한계가 있으나 향후 시니어 선교의 사례 발굴과 성서적, 신학적 성찰 및 구체화된 프로그램이 더 마련되어야 할 것이다
