To investigate stomach contents of pre- and post-hibernation Rana dybowskii, we sampled the frogs in Nov 10, 2012, pre-hibernation, and Mar 16, 2013, post-hibernation at the vicinity of the Gyorae Natural Recreation Rorest located in Jocheon-eup, Jeju-do. We collected each 37 and 24 individuals for pre- and post-hibernation, res- pectively. By applying a stomach flushing method, we confirmed that 30 out of 37 pre-hibernation frogs have foods in their stomachs, but no post-hibernation frogs had foods. The most common food was earthworms of the Oligochaeta as 24.1%. Other foods are of the Lepidoptera (13%), Heteroptera (11%), and Araneida. The volume ratios of the major foods were 63.8% for Oligochaeta), 13.4% for Heteroptera), and 8.5% for Lepidoptera). Prey size was not correlated with either frog size or the mouth size of the frogs. These results suggest that pre-hibernation R. dybowskii contains foods in their stomach, but post-hibernation R. dybowskii does not, implying that in the spring, R. dybowskii does not forage before breeding.

북방산개구리의 동면 전과 후 위 내용물을 조사 하여 이들의 동면 전후 먹이습성을 알아보기 위하여 2012년 11월 10일에 제주도 조천읍의 교래자연 휴양림에서 개구리를 포획하여 위 내용물을 조사 하였다. 조사된 개체는 동면 전 37개체, 동면 후 24개체로 총 61개체를 분석하였다. 동면 전에 채집된 30개체에는 먹이가 들어 있었던 반면, 동면 후에 채집된 모든 개체에는 위 내용물이 없었다. 위 내용 물을 가진 개체들의 Stomach Flushing Method을 이용한 분석결과, 조사된 먹이원은 지렁이목(Oligo- chaeta) 24.1%, 나비목(Lepidoptera) 13.0%, 노린 재목(Heteroptera)과 거미목(Araneida)이 각각 11.1%로 나타나 지렁이류가 가장 높은 빈도를 차지하고 있었다. 먹이의 상대적인 부피로는 지렁이목(Oligochaeta) 63.8%, 노린재목(Heteroptera) 13.4%, 나비목(Lepi- doptera)이 8.5% 순으로 나타나 지렁이류가 동면 전에 가장 중요한 먹이원이 되는 것으로 나타났다. 북방산개구리의 입의 크기와 먹이의 크기, 개체의 크기와 먹이의 크기 간에는 유의한 상관이 없었다. 이러한 우리의 결과는 제주도에 서식하는 북방산 개구리들이 동면 전까지는 동면을 위해 포식활동을 하지만 동면 후 산란하기 이전까지는 먹이를 먹지 않는다는 것을 보여준다.
