Sufficient levels of safety and effectiveness should be ensured for hearing aid medical devices because body functions are superseded by them. However, standards for the most popular hearing aid, the air-conduction type, have not been revised since its establishment, so the effectiveness in its permission process and the safety have been deteriorated, not satisfying the relevant international standards. Such inadequate conditions may be obstructive when advancing into foreign markets. This study is purposed for securing the safety and effectiveness of the hearing aid medical devices by proposing standards of the air-conduction type hearing aid in the international levels. Pertinent test items and standards were derived from investigations and analyses of Korean and overseas standards applicable in the purpose. Therefore, this study proposes new and revised reference standards by adopting more advanced standards from the revised version of the 2003 ANSI Standard. This study will improve the quality management of the hearing aid medical devices to the international level, contributing to revitalization of the Korean medical device industry.

청각보조 의료기기는 신체 기능을 대신하는 기기로, 일정 수준 이상의 안전성과 유효성을 갖추어야 한다. 그 중 가장 대중적으로 사용되는 기도형 보청기는 제정 이래 개정되지 않아 허가 업무 시 효율성이 떨어지고, 안전성 확보가 미흡하며, 국제규격과도 부합하지 않아 해외시장으로 진입 시 장벽이 될 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 기도형 보청기 기준규격을 국제 규격과 부합화하여 국제수준의 청각보조 의료기기의 기준규격을 제시, 안전성과 유효성을 확보하고 자 하였다. 이를 수행하기 위하여 적용 가능한 국·내외 규격을 조사·분석하여 시험항목 및 시험기준을 도출하였다. 따 라서 본 연구에서는 ANSI 규격 2003년도 판의 개정판을 적용, 보다 앞선 표준 기술이 반영된 기준규격 개정안을 제시 하였으며 이를 통하여 청각보조 의료기기의 국제 수준의 품질관리 및 국내 의료기기 산업 활성화에 기여를 기대한다.
