National Museum of Modern Korean Literature can be defined as the place that performs five functions: the preservation and enjoyment of modern literal heritage, the establishment and utilization of modern litera ture archive, the research and popularization of Korean modern litera ture, the place of creation for literature production, and the space for literature education. In order to perform these functions, it can be design ed as 1) a space where modern literal heritage is preserved, and 2) a space where the literal heritage can be enjoyed publicly and familiarly, instead of being exhibited in seclusion in closed place, and 3) a space where there is living culture full of vitality, and 4) a space where art production is converged with other genres to become the foundation of reproducing literal heritage, and 5) a space of 'digital literary hall modernizing the past.'The present writer developed the discussion on 'meaning composi tion' and 'space composition' that should be considered so that National Museum of Modern Korean Literature can become 'experiencing space remembering time.'If a library can be said to be a space where one reads books alone in solitude, National Museum of Modern Korean Literature is an experien cing space full of vitality as a place of experiencing literature. For this, National Museum of Modern Korean Literature should manage literal heritage through network and rare data should be organized through the establishment of duplicate engraving production system so that general public can enjoy them. National Museum of Modern Korean Literature should include the space where the citizens' and readers' literary experi ences are reinforced and literature can be converged with other genres, and Digital National Museum of Modern Korean Literature. The detailed space composition of National Museum of Modern Korea n Literature can be presupposed to be made up of 1)modern literature library, 2)exhibit hall of modern literature maps, 3)archives and perma nent planning exhibit hall 4)outdoor literature park, 5)international confe rence rooms and literature class seminar rooms(literature education cen ters), 6)literary persons' homes(literary persons' creation centers), 7)mo dern literature research institute(literature research center), 8)National Museum of Modern Korean Literature operation center, 9)future litera ture hall, 10)literature gift shops and literature caf. 'Larchiveum' proposed by Megan Winget of University of Texas in relation to the complex spatial nature of National Museum of Modern Korean Literature is worth sufficient consideration. 'Larchiveum' refers to library, archive, and museum. This discussion can be positively considered in the space composition of National Museum of Modern Korean Literature in the aspect that it raises the convenience of using knowledge information and the space is arranged so that creation, reprocessing and education are possible

국립근대문학관이 ‘시간을 기억하는 체험 공간’이 되기 위해서는 ‘의미구성’과 ‘공간구성’을 고려해야 한다. 국립 근대문학관이 ‘자료의 보존’과 ‘자료의 향유’가 동시에 이뤄지는 곳이다. 국립근대문학관은 △ 근대문학유산 보존 및 향유 △ 근대문학 아카이브 구축과 활용 △ 한국근대문 학 연구와 대중화 △ 문학생산을 위한 창조의 장 △ 문학교육의 공간이라는 5가지 기능을 수행하는 곳으로 정의할 수 있다. 이러한 기능을 수행하기 위해서는 1) 근대문학 유산이 보존되면서도 2) 그 보 존 방식이 밀폐된 장소에 격리된 상태로 전시되는 것이 아니라, 대중적으로 친숙하게 향유될 수 있는 공간으로 고안될 수 있다. 더불어 3) 활력 넘치는 생활문화 공간 4) 문학유산의 재생산의 토대가 되도 록 다른 장르와 융복합하는 예술생산공간 5) ‘과거를 현대화하는 디지털문학관’으로 구성할 수 있다. 국립근대문학관의 복합공간적 성격과 관련해 미국 텍사스 대학의 메건 윈젯(Megan Winget)이 제안 한 ‘라키비움(Larchiveum)’은 중요한 시사점을 제공한다. ‘라키비움’은 도서관(Library), 기록관(Archives), 박물관(Museum)을 지칭하는 것이다. 이러한 논의는 지식 정보의 이용 편의를 높 이고, 창작과 재가공 및 교육이 가능하도록 공간 배치가 이뤄져 있다는 측면에서 국립 근대문학관의 공간 구성에 적극 고려할 수 있다. 국립 근대문학관은 구체적 공간으로 1) 근대문학 도서관 2) 근대문학지도 전시실 3) 아카이브 기록관 및 상설․기획 전시실 4) 야외문학공원 5) 국제회의실 및 문학 강좌 세미나실(문학교육센터) 6) 문인의 집(문인창작센터) 7) 근대문학 연구소(문학연구센터) 8) 미래문학관 9) 국립 근대문학관 운영실 10) 문학기념품점 및 문학카페 등을 배치할 수 있다. 국립 근대문학관은 문학유산을 네트워크화해 관리하고, 희귀자료는 복각본(復刻本) 제작 시스템 구 축을 통해 대중이 향유할 수 있도록 고안되어야 한다. 국립 근대문학관의 자료들이 자유롭게 활용될 때, ‘한국 근대정신’의 안주처일 수 있다. 그 정신의 고향은 근대문학 도서관이자 아카이브이고, 문학 박물관이자 문화적 휴식공간일 때 의미가 있다.
