This study examines the influences of temperament on delinquency across the adolescent period. In this study, it is hypothesized that: 1) negative temperament may vary over developmental stages; 2) the trajectory of negative temperament determines the trajectory of delinquency; 3) there are different developmental patterns of negative temperament and delinquency; and 4) the influences of negative temperament on delinquency are more specified if each variable can be classified into groups. Utilizing 4 wave data from the Korea Youth Panel Survey, latent growth curve model and latent class growth analysis are used to test these hypotheses. The results indicate that: 1) the trajectory of negative temperament is relatively stable; 2) the trajectory of negative temperament is positively related to the trajectory of delinquency; 3) negative temperament can be classified into 4 groups and delinquency can be classified into 3 groups; and 4) adolescents with higher level of negative temperament are more likely to involved in delinquent processes.

이 연구는 청소년기 동안 기질이 비행에 미치는 영향을 고찰하는 것이다. 이 연구는 다음과 같 은 가정을 하였다. 1) 부정적 기질은 청소년의 발달 단계에 따라 변이가 있을 것이다. 2) 부정적 기질의 궤적은 비행의 궤적에 영향을 줄 것이다. 3) 부정적 기질과 비행은 발달 과정에 따라 다양 한 유형이 존재할 것이다. 4) 부정적 기질과 비행이 궤적이 따른 집단의 분류가 가능하다면 부정적 기질이 비행에 미치는 영향은 더 구체화 될 수 있을 것이다. 4년간의 한국청소년패널연구 자료를 이용하고 잠재적 성장곡선 모델과 잠재적 집단 성장 분석을 통해 가설을 검증하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 부정적 기질의 궤적은 청소년기 동안 상대적으로 안정적으로 나타났다. 2) 부정적 기질의 궤적은 비행의 궤적과 정적으로 관련되어 있다. 3) 부정적 기질은 4개의 집단으로 분류되었 고, 비행은 3개의 집단으로 분류되었다. 4) 부정적 기질의 정도가 높은 청소년들일수록 비행 과정 에 속할 가능성이 높게 나타났다.
