『Damseol』 had originally been written by way of return to Zhang Zha and Li Yen-hu, but some Chinese writers who had been staying in Korea wrote the preface, added titles for the stories and proofread them to be published into a book over the period of 1883 and 1884. Among the stories of 『Damseol』, the writings of Kim Chang-hee aroused the interest of Chinese writers the most. The aggressiveness of Kim Chang-hee and the favorable response of the Chinese writers, together with the support of a Chinese official called Wu Changqing who had been stationed at the time in Korea, made it possible to be published. In addition, the Chinese writers who had the cultural relationship with Korea actively requested to take this book to China. The publication of 『Damseol』 is regarded as the result of the collaboration of the writers of Korea and China, which celebrates the cultural exchanges during the period of the Im-O Military Revolt. The fresh storytelling style and the classic approach of 『Damseol』 was a new and acceptable writing style to the Chinese writers, and this understanding was possible as it was based on the common culture between the two countries.

｢담설｣은 본래 임오군란을 계기로 조선에 온 장건(張謇)과 이연호(李延祜)에 게 김창희가 답례로 주었던 문장이었으나, 1883년과 1884년에 걸쳐 조선에 머물 던 중국 문사들이 서문을 써주고 제목의 글씨를 써주었으며, 또한 중국문사들의 교열을 거쳐 책으로 간행되었다. ｢담설｣은 김창희(金昌熙)의 저작 가운데 중국 문사의 관심을 가장 많이 불러일으켰다. 김창희의 적극성과 중국 문인들의 호응, 그리고 당시 주둔하고 있던 오장경(吳長慶)의 후원으로 간행에까지 이른 것이다. 또한 교유 관계에 있던 중국 문사들은 이 책을 중국으로 가져가기 위해 매우 적극 적으로 요청하였다. 담설의 간행은 조선과 중국 문사들의 공동 작업의 결과물 로, 이렇게 간행된 담설은 임오군란 시기의 교유를 기념하는 저작물이라 할 수 있다. 담설의 신선한 이야기 방식과 고전적인 취지는 중국 문사들에게 새로우면 서 받아들일 수 있는 글쓰기 방식이었고, 이러한 이해는 조선과 중국 공통의 문화 의식이 기반이 되었기 때문에 가능했던 것이다.
