This study aimed to develop and validate the characteristics self-monitoring instrument for pre-service teachers. For this purpose, previous studies on general personality and teacher's characteristics were examined. The preliminary 40 items based on the information from the literature review were chosen. To examine the validity and reliability of the items, 250 pre-service teachers conducted this self-monitoring instrument. In conclusion, a self-monitoring instrument (32 items) which includes 2 dimensions of characteristics (general and teacher characteristics) and 6 constructs (self-management, morality, sociality, sense of duty, passion for students, and trust about the value of teaching profession) were developed. This instrument might contribute to help pre-service teachers evaluate their characteristics as teachers and build an upright characteristics.

본 연구는 예비교사들이 교직이라는 특수한 직업을 수행하는데 필요한 인성을 갖추었는지를 스스로 확인해 볼 수 있는 자기점검도구를 개발하고 타당화하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 보편적 인성과 교직 인성에 관한 문헌과 관련 평가도구 계발 사례에 대한 고찰을 토대로 가장 보편적인 인성 요소들과 교직 고유의 인성 요소들을 추출하였고, 이에 근거하여 교직 인성 자기점검도구를 개발하였다. 그 다음, 250명의 예비교사들을 대상으로 교직 인성 평가도구에 대한 설문조사를 실시하여 평가도구의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 교직 인성 자기점검도구는 총 32문항이며, 보편적 인성 영역과 교직 인성 영역으로 나뉜다. 보편적 인성은 자기조절, 사회성, 도덕성으로, 교직 인성은 소명의식, 학생에 대한 열정, 교육적 신념으로 구성된다. 본 연구 결과의 시사점과 교직인성 자기점검도구 활용 방안을 논의하였다.
