This thesis aims to analyze meaning of the lyricism in the Korean poetry. Lyricism tends to be mentioned related with orient self-identity and transcendency. It has transcended nature, time and religion. I would like to understand formal characteristics of the traditional lyric poetry, which are based on their composition, and the view of the world, and to examine the process that it has built their own frame of aesthetic cognition as lyricism through such changes. Octavio Paz divided rhetoric into analogy and irony. The lyricism is significant because it has a strong the sublime toward succession of the tradition adapted to the cosmotic world. At the end of late 1930's, the history of Korean modern poems had its own field out of the history’ of Korean literature or history of Korean modern literature. Lee Sang & Kim Soo-young , who are the most prominent figure in the Korean literary world after 1930's, is settled down as a modernist showing a dynamic relation between ’the actual and poetry through unique interpretation of the actual and coping method with it. I would like to say that the modernity of Lee Sang & Kim Soo-young's poetry is based on the irony. Thir irony relates to not only the role of ’allegory for capitalistic modernism or political condition but the reflective sense of watching the world cool. Considering these types of history of literature, the thing that we should reconsider when we describe the history of poem is that we still have the chronological method as a history of literature. Furthermore, when describing the history of the poem, the various points of view, needed to intend to the history of literature as a history itself as well as literature, will be inquired. Through two types of research, I hope the history of literature which has the concrete method as well as the various points of view should be developed.
