A concept for the Allegory in the Contemporary Art is defined to be related to the instinct desire of expression regarding to the verious aspect of Postmodernism Art. Especially, according to Paul de Man, a Allegory is a sort of contemporary debate derived of defining that a Allegory in contemporay art is related to the deconstruction character which is one of the aspect of Postmodernism art. Also related to this, for Creg Owens, the Allegory is related to the aesthetic character and defined to “the aesthitic attitude, aesthitic method, and the aesthitic acting”. And he finally, defines that the character of Allegory is a temporality, borrowing, site, a mixed and polyvalent, ect. In the thesis, it first, reviews the concept and define of the allegory in the theory, and studies the related character seeking in the own painting according to the character on it.

현대미술에서의 알레고리에 대한 개념은 포스트모더니즘 미술의 다양한 양상에 대한 본질적 인 표현충동과 연관되어 정의되고 있다. 특히 폴 드 만은 알레고리를 언어의 해체적 특성과 관련하여 접근함으로써 모더니즘 이후의 다원적인 포스트모니즘의 양상을 현대 알레고리의 해체적 특성으로 규정하고 알레고리 담론을 태동시키고 있다. 이를 배경으로 크랙 오웬스는 알레고리를 본질적으로 복합적이고 다양한 양상(polyvalent)을 지닌 포스트모더니즘의 예술적 특징들과 관련짓고, 알레고리를 ‘예술적 기법이자 예술적 태도이며 예술적 과정이자 예술적 지각활동이다.’라고 정의하고 있다. 이와 관련하여 그는 포스트모더니즘에 나타나는 알레고리 적 특징을 시간의 일시성, 차용성, 장소성, 혼성 교배성으로 규정하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 러한 알레고리의 개념을 이론적으로 살펴보고 연구자의 작품에서 연관되는 알레고리적 특징 을 고찰해보는 것이다.
