As of the economic and environmental issues, the importance of the various services provided by forests is recognized and industries related to forests are considered as the core social impacts such as the green growth and the job opportunities. Therefore the analysis of forest related qualification for present and future study was implemented to identify its status and outlooks. Literature reviews, existed data manipulation and the expert opinion processes were employed to analyze the current status and outlooks and to predict future demands of the qualification. The study findings of the forest related qualification numbers were identified as 12 national competency qualifications, 6 government level qualifications and 20 civil qualifications which are documented as present items. The highly spot lighted qualifications were wood nurse and therapist, forest therapist and guide, forest business meister, care-taker on prevention & control of forest pests, respectively reached a high consensus to be priorities qualification kinds developed by panelists, and they predicted four qualifications should be positive demands in the forest labor market, government investment and work force development. The research suggestions were made that the forest qualifications system should be needed as having control office and the civil qualifications should be studied as restructured to cope with forestry fields labor market and their trends of demand and supply.

산림의 중요성이 환경문제, 휴양과 여가, 건강문제 그리고 경제적 가치로 인하여 그 관심이 크게 대두되었고, 동시에 녹색성장과 일자리창출에 대한 사회적 이슈의 핵심에 산림과 관련된 산업과 직업들이 회자되고 있다. 이러한 관점에서 산림분야 산업은 앞으로 크게 성장할 것으로 기대된다. 이 연구의 목적은 우리나라 산림자격 현황을 국가기술자격과 민간자격으로 구분하여 파악하고, 산림자격의 운영 실태와 전망을 제시하는데 있다. 이 연구는 선행연구고찰, 자격관련 자료분석, 산림자격관련 기관방문, 전문가 자문 및 인터뷰방법을 통하여 이루어졌다. 연구결과 우리나라의 산림분야 자격은 12종목의 국가기술자격, 6종목의 국가자격 그리고 20종목의 민간자격 이 운영되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 산림자격 취득자수와 미래 수요 전망에서는 산림자격들 간의 큰 차이가 있었다. 산림자격운영 실태에서는 자격을 총괄하는 기관이 없고, 수요에 따른 자격의 신설 및 폐지에 대한 전 문적인 담당기관이 없는 것으로 파악되었다. 자격수요 및 전망에서는 산림기사, 산림산업기사 및 임업종묘기 사 등의 국가기술자격 수요가 꾸준한 것으로 전망되었다. 국가자격에서는 산림치료사(나무의사), 숲해설가 등 의 수요와 전망이 있는 것으로 나타났고, 민간자격에서는 수목보호기술자격, 목공DIY교육지도사 등이 수요와 전망 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 미래에 신설 가능한 유망 자격으로는 산림테라피스트, 원목평가사, 산림 방재 및 병충해방제사 등이 있었다. 운영과 체제 면에서는 산림자격을 운영하고 관할하는 전담기구와 전문운 영위원회가 설치되어 체계적이고 예측 가능한 자격관리가 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
