Among the felony that continues to increase recently, this research studied recent sexual murder crimes in Korea to build a methodological framework for scientific criminal investigation and suggest guidelines for the prevention and the analysis of such crime. This research analyzed the fifty-seven National Policy Agency reported ‘sexual murder’ interview records written by the profilers between 01/01/2005~12/31/2012. More than half of the offenders were introverts who were mostly unemployed, daily-contract workers, or blue collars. Histories of previous criminal records were found in most offenders; both sexual assault and violence charges were common. Approximately 50% of the cases were planned crimes that often occurred on weekdays between night and dawn(20:00~06:59). Motivations for the murder usually included concealment and victim’s resistance. Most of the victims were also unemployed, daily-contract workers or customer service workers. In light of the results, it was found that sexual murder had similar characteristics to other violent crimes and was caused by concealment of the perpetrator or stimulation of the victim right after or during the sexual activity.

본 연구는 현재 계속 증가하고 있는 강력범죄 중, 성적인 살인에 관한 범죄를 분석함으로서 과 학적 수사와 범죄예방 지침의 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 시도되었다. 연구 방법은 전국에서 2005년 01 월 01일~2012년 12월 31일 까지 8년 동안 경찰청에 보고되어 프로파일러에 의하여 작성된 ‘성적살인’사 건 면담기록 57건을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 가해자의 직업은 대부분 무직, 일용직 및 생산직이며 내성적 성격이 절반 이상으로 많았다. 가해자의 대부분은 범죄 경력이 있었으며 그 중, 성폭력과 폭력 전과가 많 은 것으로 나타났다. 범죄행동의 특성은 약 50%가 계획적 범죄였으며 주로 밤, 새벽시간(20:00~06:59)에 발생하였고 평일에 많았다. 살인동기로는 은폐와 피해자 반항이 많았다. 피해자의 직업은 무직, 서비스 업 및 유흥업이 대부분이었다. 본 연구의 결과에 비추어 성적인 살인은 성과 관련된 다른 강력범죄와 유 사한 특성이 있으며 성적 행위를 하는 도중이나 직후에 가해자의 범행사실 은폐 또는 피해자의 자극으 로 인해 발생하는 것으로 나타났다.
