In this paper, we examined expression of emotion in the Korean and Japanese languages through nature seen as a category of culture. From the viewpoint that cultural education is important in linguistic teaching and learning, such an analysis of the expression of emotion through nature is also significant from the perspective of conventions and concepts dispersed in the thinking and experience in which a language belongs. Hence, through such a process, we were able to reveal commonalities and differences in the meaning of each expression of emotion regarding nature and find the expressive characteristics of each culture through the expressions of emotion. Expressions of emotion not only show human culture, they also serve as a fundamental framework in human communication. For this reason, a learner of Korean can attain Korean language skills more easily by learning the language based on expressions of emotion through nature belonging to the culture, especially through figures of speech where the ideas of the Korean people are hidden. So this paper examines how nature of ‘sun’ and ‘moon’ affect Koreans’ expressions of emotion by focusing on the subjects of nature close to Koreans that affect them and their culture. Also, the meanings assigned to expressions of emotion are verified through comparisons with Japanese expressions of emotion relate to nature.

이 연구는 한국어와 일본어에서의 감정 표현을 문화의 한 범주에 속한 자연을 통해 검토하였다. 이와 같이 감정 표현을 자연을 통해 분석하는 것은 언어 교수-학습에서 문화교육이 중요하다는 관점과 언어가 속한 사고와 경험에 분포하고 있는 관습적이고 개념적인 현상에서 볼 때도 의의가 있다. 또한 자연을 통한 감정 표현, 특히 한국 사람의 관념이 숨어들어 있는 감정 표현을 알아내는 것은 한국어 교수-학습에서 보다 효과적인 문화 이해와 한국어 능력 신장을 가능하게 한다. 본고에서는 이와 같은 견해에 입각해서 첫째 감정 표현의 개념과 감정 표현이 문화와 어떻게 관련되고 있는지를 밝혔다. 그 다음에 한국인의 가장 가까이에서 한국인과 한국 문화에 영향을 주고 있는 대자연인 ‘해’와 ‘달’을 중심으로 이들 자연이 한국인의 감정 표현에 어떤 영향을 주고 있는지를 알아봤다. 이 분석을 토대로 감정 표현 표출에 어떤 의미가 부여되고 있는지를 일본의 ‘해’와 ‘달’과 관련된 감정 표현과의 대조를 통해 확인했다. 그리고 일본인 한국어 학습자가 자연스럽게 이 감정 표현을 습득 할 수 있도록 자연 사물의 직유를 통한 감정 표현의 교수-학습 방법을 마련했다.
