An Evaluation of Intensive English Program for University Students

This study is aimed at evaluating the Caring Intensive English Program for University students. This program was designed in 2012 to help university students achieve a high level of proficiency in a target language, specifically TOEIC scores. While staying in a dormitory, sixty students participated in the program for three weeks. The participants' English competence was measured by TOEIC both prior to and at the end of the program. Questionnaires were administered to sixty students to identify their satisfaction with the program. The result of the study indicated that the students were highly satisfied with the program. Furthermore, the average of students’ TOEIC score was greatly increased. The students were strongly motivated and had positive attitudes towards learning English thanks, in most part, to the program management.
