A Study on the State of Immigrated Youth & Mothers Right

This study analyzes various cases of human right infringements through in-depth interviews focusing on immigrated youth and mothers. The study is based on the Convention of the Rights of the child emphasizing children’s right to life, development, participation, and protection by the children’s mothers within a family or cultural grouping. In the case of immigrated youth, the study explored the conflicts that arose from the relationship with the children’s family, the different language and culture, the child’s adaptability, and the discrimination experienced within the society of South Korea. In addition, the study explored the children’s school life, relationship with friends, and the desire for employment. In the case of the mothers, the study examined the family conflicts, immigration issues, housing and living conditions, and custody and education of the children. Through the in-depth interviews, the study has attempted to propose a fundamental data outlining the overall state of immigrated youth’s human rights in order to protect their rights in the future.
