Today, the goal of elementary education that is too adult world of work and career-oriented world, and according to the elementary functions of the request based on the social function and not be complex. 오늘날 초등교육의 목표가 지나치게 성인 세계 즉 일과 직업의 세계를 지향하며, 초등학교 의 기능이 사회적 요청에 따라 기준없는 복합적인 기능을 수행하고 있다. 초등교육에서 합목 적적 기능을 지나치게 강조할 때, 초등교육의 본질적 의미는 훼손될 것이다. 초등교육이란 어 린이의 고유세계의 전형적 모습들을 어린이의 세계와 가까운 교육적 도야재를 통해 조장시켜 야하며, 초등학교는 어린이 세계와 성인세계를 잇는 양방향성을 갖춘 교량적 역할을 하여야 한다. 본 연구는 독일의 대표적인 문화교육학자인 슈프랑거의 문화교육과 초등교육론에 관한 사 상을 그의 원저작을 중심으로 재해석하면서 분석하였으며, 초등교육의 본질적 방향을 모색하 고자 하였다.
