Calvin lived with his self-consciousness that he was elected as Preacher only for ‘the Glory of God’. He accepted Jesus Christ as Master in his deep heart, and was also a faithful Herald and dedicated Embassador who always had radical self-control and self-discipline. Especially he was a devout Preacher who exercised constantly the ‘Faith of Life’ in his daily life, and taught the christians and citizens in Geneve ‘the living Gospel’(viva vox evangelii), and also exhorted them, in other words, them to live in ‘the Way, Truth and Life’ of Jesus Christ. In a word, Calvin was a brave Preacher who proclaimed the Kerygmatic-Prophetic message clearly and simply. He was always in favor of the ‘Lectio Continua Preaching’, because he confirmed and accepted the Bible as the Word of God. He studied the Bible intellectually very hard, and also personally obeyed it. As the result, he was a ‘knowledge and piety balanced’ excellent Preacher. In this meaning, this thesis examines first of all Calvin's personality as Preacher, secondly analyzes and evaluates his ‘Lectio Continua Preaching’ and a kind of its patterns, that is, his ‘Kerygmatic-Prophetic Preaching’, and at the same time proposes the possibility of its use. Though Calvin was a person with the Spirit of time(Geist der Zeit) in 16th century, he was of course a most important example and heritage, whom most preachers in the 21th century must pay attention to.
