This study intends to establish a basis for in-depth discussion concerning financial hub with financial authorities after escaping from a negative point of view regarding financial industry resulted from attention to the dangers of financial risk occurred by incidents such as sub-prime mortgage loan and financial crisis. In order to do so, this paper diagnoses present roadmap for North-East Asian financial hub by arranging types of financial hub and analyzing changes of financial environment. Furthermore, this paper will present strategies for establishing a Korean-style financial hub appropriate for changes of global financial markets by analyzing existing studies on financial hubs. If Seoul can be developed as a financial hub with outstanding competitiveness, hopefully it will act as a great help for improving financial environment and escalation of national power. A practical approach executed to establish a financial hub that will act as a stepping-stone will hopefully make Seoul into a financial powerhouse and help Korea bridge the gap with financially developed countries.

본 연구는 금융위기 및 서브프라임 모기지 사건 등으로 인한 금융위험성 재인식을 통해 초래된 금융산업에 대 한 부정적 견지에서 벗어나 금융당국의 금융허브 논의를 심도있게 도출해 낼 수 있는 초석을 마련하고자 하였 다. 이를 위해 금융허브의 유형 정리와 주요국 금융환경 변화를 분석함으로써 동북아 금융허브로의 추진 로드맵 을 진단하고, 금융허브관련 기존연구들의 분석을 통해 글로벌 금융환경 변화에 적합한 한국형 금융허브 구축 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구결과를 통해 도시경쟁력이 뛰어난 서울을 금융중심지로 발전시킬 수 있다면 국력 상승 및 금융환경 개 선에 큰 도움이 될 것이라는 기대를 갖게 한다. 그 발판이 될 수 있는 금융허브 구축방안을 실질적으로 접근해 봄으로써 금융선진국과의 격차를 해소하고 동북아시아권역에서의 경쟁구도에서 주도권을 내주지 않고 오히 려 금융강국으로서의 위상을 정립하는 데에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
