Objectives : Pathological gambling has been proposed to represent a ‘'behavioral addiction’' that may provide key insights into vulnerability mechanisms underlying addiction in brains that are not affected by the damaging effects of drugs. This study compared measures of neurocognitive performances in inpatients with alcohol dependence and pathological gambling, a putative behavioral addiction where direct effects of drug exposure may be minimal. Method : Setting in-patient addiction treatment hospital. Participants are 55 of pathological gamblers, 50 of alcohol-dependent in-patients. Measurements were neurocognitive battery and Depression and anxiety inventories. Results : Alcohol-dependent group displayed slowed deliberation times impairments relative to pathological gamblers. Pathological gamblers were more careless, impulsive and had risky decision-making patterns than the alcohol-dependent group. Pathological gamblers had high attention and concentration compared to alcohol -dependent group and preferred sequential process. There was no signigicant differences in depression and anxiety. Conclusion : We found neurocognitive differences between gambling and alcohol-dependent groups. It could be apply to gambling and alcohol dependence treatment.

대상 : 병원에 입원한 병적 도박 집단과 알코올 의존 집단의 신경인지 과제 수행을 비교하여 그 특징을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 : 중독치료를 위해 병원에 입원한 55명 의 병적 도박 환자와 50명의 약물 의존 환자에게 신경인지 배터리와 우울 및 불안 검 사를 실시하였다. 결과 : 병적 도박 집단보다 알코올 의존 집단에서 느린 반응 시간을 보였다. 병적 도박 집단은 보다 부주의하고 충동적이었으며 위험성이 있는 의사결정 을 하는 결과가 나타났다. 병적 도박 집단이 알코올 의존 집단보다 더 높은 주의력 및 집중력을 보였고, 우울이나 불안에서의 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 결론 : 병적 도박 집단과 알코올 의존 집단이 신경인지적인 측면에서 큰 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 현재 중독을 치료하는 장면에서 주로 인지적인 측면을 변화시키는 접근을 하고 있는 데, 이러한 신경인지적인 특성을 이해하고 치료에 접목시키는 것이 치료에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.
