In this paper, by reviewing in chronological order Oh Un’s life and the books he compiled, and his scholarship and thought, the background which helped him compile so many books was examined. Oh Un was a representative compiler in the mid-Joseon Dynasty. Writing some books on his own, he was also engaged in compiling, publishing, copying and re-binding many books even during the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592. Oh Un’s scholarship and thought became the foundation of his compilation. He devoted himself to Zhu Xi and his thought, that is, the Learning of Zhu, and got his education from Cho Sik and Yi Hwang. His inclination for the Learning of Zhu, had an influence on his writing so that he held fast to his principle in writing Dongsachanyo that was his representative book. He represented historical perspectives which applied the logic of the Learning of Zhu to Confucian rationality and moral. Oh Un was involved in writing, compiling, revising, and re-binding the total of 11 titles. He published Songjae Seongsaeng Sijib which was the collection of Songjae’s poems for the first time at the age of 45, and rewrote Dongsachanyo for the last time at the age of 75. Oh Un became directly engaged in compilation of books in the prime of life and scholarship, and kept his attitude until his death. This proves his devotion and enthusiasm as a compiler as well as a scholar.

이 논문에서는 吳澐의 편찬서를 시대 순으로 고찰해 보고, 나아가 그의 학문과 사상을 고찰하여 그가 많은 도서를 편찬하게 된 내적 배경을 파악하였다. 오운은 조선 중기를 대표하는 도서편찬자이다. 그는 임진왜란의 와중에서도 직접적으로 저술한 서적이 있는 것은 물론, 여러 도서의 편찬과 간행, 필사와 改粧 등에 관여하였다.오운 의 학문과 사상은 그의 도서편찬 활동에 기반이 된다. 그의 학문은 朱子와 朱子學에 경도되 어 있었다는 사실과 曺植과 李滉의 문하를 넘나들며 수학하였다는 특징이 있다. 주자학을 신봉하는 자세는 그의 저술에도 반영되었다. 오운은 대표적인 저서인 ｢東史簒要｣를 짓는 과정에서도 주자학자로서의 입장을 고수하였다. 오운은 유교적인 도덕률과 합리성에 기반 을 두면서도 주자학의 정통 논리를 적용하려는 사림들의 역사 인식을 대표하는 인물이었다. 오운은 도합 11종의 서적의 저술과 편찬, 교정과 改粧 등에 관여하였다. 그가 처음으로 관여한 도서는 ｢松齋先生詩集｣의 간행인데 이때 그의 나이 45세였고, 마지막으로 정리한 서적은 75세에 최종으로 改撰한 􋺷東史簒要􋺸이다. 이로 보아 오운은 학문과 경륜이 원숙해 지는 장년에 이르러 직접적으로 도서의 편찬에 관여하였는데 이러한 자세는 그가 세상을 떠날 때까지 계속되었다. 여기에서도 도서편찬자로서의 면모를 확인할 수 있다.
