The purpose of this study was to identify works of PE division head of an elementary school. For the purpose of this study, the researcher, who is PE Division Head in an elementary school, has collected materials regarding the works for an year through NEIS and diary. Out of collected materials, works that are not matched with job scope of PE division head and redundant materials were excluded and 306 materials were analyzed. They were classified as 81 small categories, 20 medium categories and 7 large categories through contents analysis and finally two work types were analyzed. The first work type was ‘To plan and execute’, in which PE division head plans, teaches and operates by himself, and is composed of large categories of ‘sports team operation, participation in external events, operation of in-school events, and execution of tasks of PE.’ The second work type is ‘To manage and approve’ in which the division head manages and approves sports leaders in PE division, school PE facilities, and division works.’ ‘To plan and execute’ is composed of works directly related with educational activities of students whereas ‘To manage and approve’ is composed of works not directly related with educational activities, which needs to be improved.

이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 체육업무 담당자가 1년 동안 구체적으로 어떤 일을 하는지 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 체육부장인 연구자가 1년간 수행한 일에 대한 자료를 업무관리시스템과 업무수첩을 통해 수집하였다. 수집된 자료 중 체육부장의 일에 부합되지 않거나 중복된 자료를 제외한 306건을 원자료로 내용분석의 과정을 통해 소영역(81개), 중영역(20개), 대영역(7개)의 범주를 구성하였고 최종적으로 2가지의 업무 유형이 분석되었다. 첫 번째 업무 유형은 ｢계획하고 실행하기｣로 체육부장이 직접 계획을 하고 지도․운영하는 업무들로 ‘운동부 운영, 대외행사 참가, 교내행사 운영, 학교체육 운영’의 대영역으로 형성되었다. 두 번째 업무 유형은 ｢관리하고 결재하기｣로 체육부 지도자들과 체육시설 그리고 체육부원 업무를 관리하고 결재하는 일들로 ‘체육지도자 관리, 학교체육시설 관리, 체육부원 업무 관리’의 대영역을 통해 형성되었다. 이와 같은 업무 유형에서 ｢계획하고 실행하기｣는 체육활동과의 관련성이 높은 업무들이었지만 ｢관리하고 결재하기｣는 체육활동과의 직접적인 관련성이 떨어지는 업무들로 개선이 요구되었다.
