The purpose of this study was to develop and validate an instrument to measure Korean preservice teachers' spirituality. Through the review of literature, this study developed seven factors as a construct of the instrument of preservice teachers' spirituality as follows: 1) calling as teacher, 2) meaning and purpose of life, 3) equanimity, 4) care and service, 5) ecumenical worldview, 6) interconnectedness, 7) transcendence. The content and construct validity for establishing the validity of the instrument were carried out. Cronbach α and item-scale score correlation were used for assessing the reliability of the instrument. For an assessment of content validity, three experts evaluated the appropriateness of each item in the instrument to measure the intended object. After assessing the content validity, ten items were deleted and the other ten items were revised. The revised instrument was administered to 392 preservice teachers of kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school. After completing factor analysis for the construct validity as well as item-scale score correlation for the reliability, sixteen items were deleted. This study found that the final version of revised instrument(PTSI: Preservice Teachers Spirituality Instrument), consisted of 60 items for seven factors, was valid and reliable in measuring preservice K-12 teachers' spirituality. It is expected that this validated instrument be instrumental to reliably measure the preservice teachers' spirituality and to contribute to related areas of research in teacher education.

본 연구의 목적은 예비교사들의 영성의 구성요인을 탐색하고 이를 조사 할 수 있는 측정도구를 개발하여 개발된 도구의 타당도와 신뢰도를 조사하는 것이다. 예비교사들의 영성의 구성요인을 이론적 문헌을 참고하여 교직소명감, 삶의 의미와 목적, 평정심, 배려 및 봉사, 보편적 세계관, 상호연결성, 초월성으로 구성하였고, 이러한 구인들을 조사할 수 있는 문항을 개발하였다. 개발된 도구의 타당도는 내용타당도와 구인타당도로 검사하였으며, 신뢰도는 Cronbach α와 각 문항들의 요인 내 문항 간 총점상관계수로 검사하였다. 타당도와 신뢰도의 결과에 따라 문항을 수정하고 삭제하여 최종 도구를 개발하였다. 구체적인 연구의 과정과 결과는 다음과 같다. 이론적 배경에 따라 최초 개발한 문항은 7개 구인으로 구성된 총 86문항이었다. 내용타당도를 검증하기 위하여 3명의 교육자에게 내용타당도 심사를 의뢰하였고 이들은 각 문항이 측정하고자 하는 목적에 타당한지를 검사하였다. 내용타당도의 심사 결과에 따라 10개의 문항이 삭제되고 또 다른 10개의 문항이 수정되었다. 수정된 총 76문항의 도구를 392명의 유치원, 초등학교, 중등학교 예비교사들에게 실시하였다. 조사 실시 후에 구인타당도를 요인분석으로 검사하였으며 신뢰도 분석을 하였다. 그 결과 16개의 문항이 삭제되었고 도구의 최종 선택된 문항은 7개 구인에서 교직소명감(10문항), 삶의 의미와 목적(7문항), 평정심(10문항), 배려 및 봉사(10문항), 보편적 세계관(6문항), 상호연결성(7문항), 초월성(10문항)의 총 60문항으로 구성되었다. 개발된 최종 도구가 K-12 예비교사들의 영성을 조사하는데 널리 사용되어 영성 관련의 교사교육 연구에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.
