This research aims at examining students', parents', and leaders' recognition of a Saturday sports day program in an elementary school. The students showed positive emotional reactions, such as joy, sense of accomplishment, and self-confidence, and felt sorry for their classmates' swear words or unfair judgments. The parents were very satisfied with their children's enjoyment, approached it easily through its improvement of their children's sociality and its eschewal of development of elite players, and displayed appreciation and trust for the leaders. The leaders tried to teach the true meaning of competition, and felt sorry for the lack of consideration, care, and efforts for few female students. Lastly, as for the external environment, there were satisfactory and unsatisfactory surroundings. Based on the results of this research above, more studies on comprehensive current state of the participation and problems in Saturday sports day programs from a macroscopic viewpoint and studies on lower graders in elementary schools are needed.

본 연구의 목적은 초등학교 토요 스포츠데이 프로그램에 참여한 학생, 학부모, 지도자의 인식을 탐구하는데 있다. 학생들은 재미, 성취감, 자신감 같은 긍정적인 정서반응을 얻었고, 동료들의 욕이나 불공정한 심판 판정을 안타까워했다. 학부모들은 자녀들의 즐거움으로 인해 매우 만족해하였고, 자녀들의 사회성 함양과 엘리트 운동선수 육성 지양으로 편안하게 접근하고 있었으며, 지도자들에게 감사와 신뢰감을 보였다. 지도자들은 경쟁의 진정한 가치를 지도하기 위해 노력하였고, 소수 여학생에 대한 배려 부족과 좀 더 많은 관심과 노력을 기울이지 못한 것에 대해 아쉬워하였다. 마지막으로 외부환경에 대한 것으로 만족스러운 환경과 그렇지 못한 환경이 있었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 종합적인 토요 스포츠데이 참여 현황 및 문제점에 대한 거시적인 관점에서의 연구와 초등학교 저학년에 대한 연구 등이 필요하다.
