Even though traditional culture has faded in the process of westernization, the recent cultural code has turned to focus on products that mix national identity with current trends. The purpose of this study is to develop a design motif linked to modern futurism by studying the traditional dokaebi pattern. Therefore, this study tried to modernize the traditional pattern by applying the traditional Korean dokaebi pattern to futurism fashion. This study started with the witty, symbolic and folksy characteristics of the traditional dokaebi pattern and observed the functional, dynamic and transformational artistic aspects of futurism. By applying motifs with artistic characteristics from the dokaebi patterns, six fashion designs were developed. In addition, through application of the digital pattern, motif transformation and new materials, future-oriented creative and original futurism fashion designs were developed.

우리사회가 서구화되는 과정에서 전통 문화들이 축소, 퇴색되고 있으나 최근 문화적 코드는 자국의 정체성과 트렌드를 혼합한 상품들이 각광을 받고 있다. 따라서 전통문양을 현대화시키는 것이 중요하다고 사료 된다. 본 연구의 목적은 전통문양 중 구전되면서 발전, 변모하며 독자적인 캐릭터를 형성한 도깨비 문양을 연구함에 있다. 도깨비 문양은 전통성을 갖고 있으면서 21세기 미학 중 하나인 유희성과도 연결되는 측면이 있다. 이러한 감성은 새롭게 다가오는 미래적 융합 트렌드에 적합하며 이를 이용한 퓨처리즘 디자인 연구는 패션의 폭을 넓혀줄 수 있을 것이라 본다. 따라서 도깨비 문양에서 영감을 받아 현대 감성인 퓨처리즘 패션과 접목하여 디자인적 모티브로 개발하고자 함에 있다. 한국 전통 도깨비 문양과 퓨처리즘에 관한 연구를 진행하여 도깨비 문양에서 해학적, 상징적, 민예적 특징을 얻었고, 퓨처리즘에서는 기능미, 역동미, 변형 미적 특성을 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 미적 특성을 디자인 모티브로 하여 도깨비 문양을 응용한 퓨처리즘 패션디자인을 6점 디자인 하였다. 또한 작품을 진행하는 방법은 디지털 패턴사용, 문양의 모티브의 변형, 신소재의 활용이었다. 이를 통해 전통적 캐릭터를 사용한 독창적인 퓨처리즘 패션디자인을 개발 연구의 의의가 있다.
