The object of this study is to present the possibilities of the modernized design by analyzing certain geometrical compositions and forms that are shown in the patchwork Jogakboes, a genre of the boudoir artistic handicrafts in our cultural heritage, by modifying and developing the original formative beauties, and by re-interpreting the traditional beauties of Korea, and further to globalize Korean culture. This study, following the trend of the design of the times, which requires the continuous renovations, places the focus on the creations of the aesthetical values, where the Korean traditional images are applied. Also, by sewing by hand to express the variety of the beauties, the odd ends of yardage are sewed one by one to form certain facets that are connected simply and clearly by points, lines and faces so as to be materialized into another diversified facets. As a matter of fact, based on our rich cultural heritage, the free thought of the times and the designs of sensitivity are conjugated in this study.

본 연구는 우리전통문화 중 규방공예의 한 장르인 조각보에 나타난 기하학적인 구성과 형태를 분석하고 독창적인 조형미를 응용, 발전시켜 한국미의 재해석을 통해 현대적인 디자인 가능성을 제시하는데 목적이 있으며 더 나아가 한국문화를 세계화하는데 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구에서는 끊임없이 새로움이 요구되고 있는 디자인 흐름에 따라 한국적 이미지를 응용한 가치 있는 미 창조에 초점을 맞추었다. 또한 아름다움을 다양하게 표현 할 수 있도록 손바느질을 함으로써 자투리천 하나하나가 이어져 면을 형성하고 그 면과 면들은 많은 점, 선, 면의 간결하면서도 명확한 형태로 연결되어 또 다른 다양한 화면으로 연출되는 구성 형식으로 풀어, 풍부한 전통문화를 기초한 현대 감각의 자유로움과 감성적 디자인으로 엮어내는데 주력 하였다.
