This study examined the effect of Korean linguistic ability and social support on adjustment of foreign workers in Korea. According to pre-studies, Korean linguistic ability and social support are very important factors on adjustment to multicultural foreigner and multicultural families in Korea. Research problems are as follows. First, are there any significance relations between life adjustment and social support of foreign workers living in Korea? Second, are there any significance relations between life adjustment and Korean linguistic ability of foreign workers living in Korea? Third, which variables among linguistic abilities and social supports are more effect to life adjustment of foreign workers living in Korea?The explore these research problems, survey on 'The questionnaire of social support and life adjustment' and test of Korea linguistic ability on the Writing ability, speaking ability, and these both ability of 68 foreign workers living in Jeonbuk, and the data was statistical analysis such as t-test, multiple regression analysis. The result show that Korean linguistic ability and social support are relatively high relations to life adjustment of foreign workers. And, most important factor in life adjustment is Korean speaking ability of foreign workers.

이 연구는 외국인 근로자의 한국어 능력과 사회적 지지, 한국생활에의 적응 등의 관계를 파악하여, 이들의 한 국생활에의 적응을 돕기 위한 방안을 제안할 목적으로 수행한 것이다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 외 국인 근로자 68명을 대상으로 한국어 쓰기와 말하기 능력, 사회적 지지, 한국생활적응도 등을 측정하여 한국 어 말하기 능력 수준에 따른 생활적응도의 차이 분석(t-검증), 외국인 근로자의 사회적 지지에 따른 생활적응 도의 차이 분석(t-검증), 외국인 근로자의 한국어 능력과 사회적 지지가 한국생활 적응도에 미치는 영향력을 규명하기 위해 중다회귀분석(multiple regression analysis)을 하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 외국인 근로자의 한국어 말하기 능력 수준에 따른 생활적응도는 차이가 있다. 그러나 한국어 이해 및 쓰기 능력에 따른 생활적응도의 차이는 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 외국인 근로자의 사회적 지지 는 한국생활 적응과 밀접한 관계는 나타나지 않았으나, 정서심리 적응과는 밀접한 관계가 있다. 셋째, 외국인 근로자의 한국어 능력 세 요소(말하기 능력, 이해 및 쓰기 능력, 측정된 능력)와 사회적 지지의 3가지 영역들 이 생활적응에 미치는 영향은 ‘말하기 능력’과 가족지지만이 유의한 영향을 미치며, 다른 요인들의 영향력은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 외국인 근로자의 한국생활 적응을 돕기 위해서는 일차적으로 한국어 말하기 능력을 함양하고, 가족지지 체제를 강화할 필요가 있다.
