Kinematics Analysis of Different Types of Service in Elite Female Tennis Players

The purpose of this research was to acknowledge difference in methods of service by female tennis players in the hope of improving overall performance in game, which yielded the following results. In case of anterior-posterior position, movement in the rear appeared to be large, with the slice serve showing the least in movement. Spin serve happened to be placed high up in the spectrum during the impact for the vertical position, with the flat serve placed at the lowest vertical position. During the follow-through, the slice serve had the largest angle. The angle of wrist was bigger for the spin serve than that of slice serve and flat serves, though the slice serve produced the largest angle at the point of the follow-through. During backswing, the elbow angle had the most flextion for the spin serve until the impact point where the angle turned obtuse, yet the outcome for shoulder angle was in the reverse order. While the center of mass anterior-posterior speed was high for anterior movement during the flat serve from point E1 to E3, the slice serve indicated slowest movement speed. Flat serve in horizontal movement appeared to be swift at the point of E1 and E2, whereas spin serve was at a fast pace at E3. In the case of vertical velocity, the spin serve was the highest. The anterior-posterior speed of the racket came out to be high for the slice serve during backswing and at the impact point, whereas the horizontal speed of the flat serve for such points appeared to be reduced by the largest amount. There was an increase in the speed of spin serve, which yielded meaningful results in terms of statistics. Vertical speed during back swing was high for slice serve and low for spin serve, though the latter resulted in the highest speed of drop at the point of impact.
