Director Tim Burton is well known as a film producer and director making grotesque and fantastic movies in broad outlines. When he was 23-year-old, he announced a debut film , a short animation about dream of a boy wanting to become ‘Vincent Price’ as a star of grotesque movie, so he garnered award in Chicago Film Festival with this movie. After that, he has many manias, by producing films that are characterful and have their own style. With unique narrative, especially remarkable point in his movie is active application of color symbolization. Color evokes much feeling from beholders, so does very important as one of mediums of emotion communication in movies. Such application of color symbolization appeared well in made at 2005, one of Tim Burton’s movies. is about a marriage between a living man and a dead woman, and has a unique narrative that a story progresses, hanging between the two worlds. In this movie, Tim Burton expresses thinking about fear of death and the next world that people have commonly, adversely. The next world in the movie is very lively, pleasant and painless, but the real world is gloomy and painful. Such boundary between these two worlds is assorted surely more through color. That is, depression of the real world that Tim Burton wants to talk oozes out well from color of the real world that grey affiliated with blue covers every screen, and colorful next world glowing in the dark maximizes elements that beholders feel happy from.
