During Japanese colonial era, many Koreans had travelled in China where Korean Provisional Government was located as well as the political, economic and cultural center of China. Along with newspaper correspondents, Korean residents of Northeast China and Shanghai travelled in China with their political and economic perspective for sightseeing purpose. Travelogs by Koreans who visited Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Hao Xu,Odaesan, etc. were published in newspapers and magazines which significantly affected many Koreans living in and outside the country. In the history of the relationship between Korea and China, China has been a major interest among Koreans and for Koreans who had to fight for the state power during Japanese colonial period, these travelogs encouraged enlightenment on new ideas and cultures as well as changing political state happening outside Korea. Therefore many overseas travelogs were published in newspapers that were founded in 1920s. Many Koreans who travelled in China wrote about how they could not forget their country's ruination when they travelled either with economic perspective or for sightseeing. Although some criticized cleanness without considering the difference between Korean and Chinese culture, Korean travelogs in 1920s were way-finding for modernization as well as political independence that they had to achieve.

일제강점기 중국의 정치․경제․문화의 중심지이자 대한민국임시정부가 위치하였던 중국관내를 많은 한국인들 이 여행하였다. 특파된 신문기자를 비롯하여 동북삼성 거주자, 상해 거주자 등 많은 한국인들이 정치적인 시 각으로, 경제적인 시각으로, 승경 관람의 목적으로 중국관내를 여행하였다. 상해, 북경, 남경, 서호, 오대산 등 중국 관내를 찾아간 한국인들의 여행기는 신문잡지에게재됨으로써 국내외 한국인들에게 큰 영향을 주었다. 중국 관내는 한국과 중국의 오랜 관계에서 한국인들에게 계속하여 큰 관심 지역이었다. 일제강점기에는 국권을 회복해야 하는 의무가 있었던 한국인들에게 한국 밖에서 펼쳐지는 정세 변동과 새로운 사상․문물을 소개함으로써 각성을 촉구하였기 때문이다. 그랬기에 1920년부터 발간되기 시작 한 신문잡지들에 해외여행기들이 다수 수록되었다. 중국 관내 지역을 여행한 한국인들은 경제적인 시각으로 또는승경 관람을 목적으로 하였을 때에도 망국민의 처지를 잊어버리거나 떨쳐버릴 수 없었음을많은 여행기들 에 기록하였다. 가끔 한국 문화와 다른 중국 문화를 이해하지 못하고, 청결 문제에 과도한 집착을 보이기도 하 였지만, 1920년대에 중국 관내를 여행한 한국인들의 여행기는정치적인 독립과 더불어 이룩해야 할 근대화를 향한 길/방법 찾기였다.
