Kant’s arguments on moral faith has very significant meanings in Kant’s critical philosophy. Kant’s transcendental idealism try to show that time, space, and categories are nothing, if we cease to regard them as conditions of sensuous experience. Then, we fall into transcendental illusions. The traditional speculative theology commits these errors. To escape these errors, we must go toward moral theology. The aim of this essay is to justify Kant’s moral faith. To Justify this, we have to discriminate between knowledge and faith, pragmatical and moral faith, speculative and moral theology, and natural and moral laws. After all, human being must seek for Summum Bonum, that is, that happiness stands in the necessary connection with morality, namely, with worthiness to be happy. It is impossible that sound human beings do not seek it. But in this world to attain Summum Bonum is also impossible. Therefore, we have to presuppose the existence of God and future life. Consequently we have to believe the existence of God and future life. This is moral faith. Kant’s point is that only through moral faith a attainment of Summum Bonum is possible. We name this argument reductio ad absurdum according to practical point of view.

도덕 신앙에 대한 칸트의 본격적인 논의는 주로 『실천이성비판』, 『판단력비판』, 『단순한 이성의 한계 내에서의 종교』 등에서 전개된다. 도덕 신앙은 실천적이며 종교적인 내용을 포함하고 있으므 로, 오직 이론적인 내용만을 문제 삼는 『순수이성비판』에서 구체적이고 체계적으로 다루어질 수 없다. 그러나 『순수이성비판』의 ｢머리말｣에서 이미 언급하고 있듯이, 칸트는 “신앙에게 자리를 주 기 위해 지식을 부정하지 않을 수 없다”라고 하면서, 엄정한 비판을 통하여 무신앙을 제거하는 것 이 자신의 목적임을 분명히 하고 있다. 즉 그의 궁극적 지향점은 ‘신앙’에 대한 비판철학적 해석 을 통해 무신앙을 제거하는 데 있다. 이런 기획에 입각해서 칸트는 『순수이성비판』에서 도덕 신앙에 대한 기본 구도를 언급하지 않을 수 없었고, 본 논문은 이 점에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 거의 대부분 국내의 논문들은 도덕 신앙을 언급하면서 주로『실천이성비판』과 『단순한 이성의 한계 내 에서의 종교』의 내용들을 다루고 있다. 본 논문의 차별성은 여기에 있다. 또한 본 논문은 칸트가 왜 도덕 신앙을 필연적이라고 생각했는가를 구체적으로 추적하고자 시도하고 있다. 즉 칸트가 제 시한 도덕 신앙의 정당화 작업이 본 논문의 관심사인 것이다. 지식과 신앙의 구별, 사변 신학과 도덕 신학의 구별, 실용적 신앙과 도덕 신앙의 구별, 도덕 신앙의 정당화 논증 등이 본 논문의 주 요 쟁점들이다.
