초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Swedish Abdominal Massage (SAM) on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and constipation in university student with psychological stress and constipation. The subjects were 26 university students and each person was randomly assigned to MLD and SAM group. We measured the activities of ANS using the Electrocardiogram (ECG) and checked the scores of State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and frequency of evacuation at pre, and after treatment for 4 weeks. The post-treatment LF, LF/HF rato were significantly higher in the MLD group than in the SAM group (p<.05). A comparison of STAI between groups indicated a significantly greater reduction in anxiety for MLD group (p<.05). These results suggest that MLD produces long-term positive change in parasympathetic nerve activity.
