In this article, I will elucidate the question of God’s name in Jean-Luc Marion. I will explore this question in three steps. First,I will describe how to deploy Marion’s philosophy with regard to theology. Second, by investigating Derrida’s critique of negative or mystical theology, I will attempt to sharpen the issues and controversies relating to God’s name. Third, I will point out the errors in Derrida’s critique of negative or mystical theology, and I will show the strengths of Marion’s philosophical theology. Derrida understands that negative or mystical theology seeks the “superessence”or “superbeing.” For him, it is nothing but the tenacity of being. However, as shown by Marion’s position on the matter, Derrida is very much obsessed with the terms of being(s). Marion argues that the mystical God is no longer the object of traditional metaphysics-ontology. Finally, according to Marion’s argument,we need to use not the metaphysical method but new methods,such as phenomenology, to understand the mysteriousness of God.

이 논문은 장－뤽 마리옹의 철학에서 신의 이름에 관한 물음을해명한다. 이 해명을 위해서 나는 다음과 같은 과정을 거친다. 첫째, 마리옹의 철학이 신론와 관련해서 전개된 방식을 서술한다. 둘째, 마리옹이 지지하는 신비신학에 관한 데리다의 비판을 살펴봄으로써, 신의 이름을 둘러싼 논쟁의 쟁점을 첨예화한다. 셋째, 데리다의 부정신학 내지 신비신학 비판의 오류를 지적하고, 마리옹의신의 이름의 규명이 주는 의의를 나타낸다. 데리다는 부정신학이나 신비신학이 존재 너머의 또 다른 상위 존재 내지 최고 존재로서의 신을 추구했다고 이해한다. 데리다에게 그것은 존재에 대한 집착에 불과한 것이었다. 하지만 마리옹은 신비신학에서 말하는 신이 존재와 다른 신이라는 점을 논증한다. 마리옹의 입장에서 보면,데리다는 너무 지나치게 존재라는 용어에만 집착한다. 마리옹의 이러한 견해는 신이 더 이상 전통적 형이상학－존재론의 대상이 되지않는다는 점을 가르쳐준다. 결국, 마리옹의 주장을 따르면, 신비적신을 이해하기 위해, 이제 우리에게는 형이상학적 탐구 방법이 아닌 새로운 방법－이를테면 현상학적 방법－이 필요하게 된다.
