Recent awareness of Christianity in Korea is very negative. Such a negative image on the church directly led into the mission area of the Church acts as a hindrance to church growth. Causes of negative perceptions about the Church are various. We can find internal or external causes separately, in terms of long-term, but the reflection on seminary education, the place where inside and outside factors, should be a priority to reform negative image of the Church. In particular, curriculums, the direction and content of education, in Korean seminary are traditional and unrealistic. Improvement of curriculums of seminaries is the highest priority for renewal of the Church in Korea Curriculums of ATS are reviewed as materials for improving curriculum of seminaries in Korea in this article. More than 260 graduate-level seminaries are belong to ATS in 2011 currently. The association recognizes the schools which meet their own standards and policies and authenticates the schools’ professional or academic program. The ATS is consist of schools in Canada and the United States, but looked around the United States except for Canada in order to eliminate ambiguities that may result in the regional characteristics. We know that the seminaries in the United States are engineered with a blend of tradition and modernity through the purpose of education and the educational process related schools’belong to ATS curriculum. Bible and theology, such as traditional content and knowledge of prescriptions and skills for the reality of the ministry that modern society require are maintained balance. Specifically, curriculum has diversity but standard criteria, not general but major. Further it is operated by interdisciplinary and offer multi-cultural educational contents to accommodate the wave of globalization. And it place mission process of urbanization in the curriculum according to the complex nature of the urbanization.

최근 한국 사회에서 기독교에 대한 인식은 대단히 부정적이다. 이와 같은 교회에 대 한 부정적 이미지는 곧바로 교회의 선교적 영역으로 이어지면서 교회 성장에 큰 저 해요인으로 작용하고 있다. 교회에 대한 부정적 인식의 원인은 다양하게볼수있을 것이다. 그 원인을 내적 외적으로 따로 찾아볼 수 있겠으나 장기적 차원에서 볼 때 교회의 부정적 이미지 쇄신을 위해서는 안과 밖이 만나는 곳, 즉 신학대학원 교육에 대한 반성이 있어야 할 것이다. 특히 교육의 방향과 내용이라고 할 수 있는 교육과 정(커리큘럼)은 한국의 경우 얼핏 보아도 대단히 전통적이며 비현실적이다. 신학대 학원교육과정의개선은한국교회의갱신을위한우선적과제이다. 이 글에서는 한국의 신학대학원 교육과정 개선을 위한 반성의 자료로 북미지역의 신학교협의회(ATS, The Association of Theological Schools)에 속한 학교들의 교육과정을 살펴보려고 한다. ATS에는 2011년 현재 260여개의 대학원 수준 신학 교들이 소속되어 있다. 협의회는 자신의 기준과 정책에 부합하는 학교들을 인가하 고 그들의 전문적이거나 학문적인 프로그램을 인증한다. ATS는 캐나다와 미국의 학교들로 구 성되어 있으나 이 글에서는 지역적 특성이 초래할 수 있는 모호성을 배 제하기 위해 캐나다를 제외하고 미국을 중심으로 살폈다. ATS에 속한 회원교회들 의 교육과정과 관련된 교육의 목적, 교육과정의 실천 등을 통해 알 수 있게 된 내용 은 미국의 신학대학원들은 전체적으로 전통과 현대의 조화를 꾀하고 있다는 것이 다. 전통적인 성서와 신학 등의 내용과 현대 사회가 요청하는 목회의 현실 처방을 위한 지식과 기술들의 균형을 유지하고 있었다. 구체적으로 교육과정에 다양성이 있으나표준적기준이있으며, 일반적이지않고전공을두고있으며, 학제적으로운 영되고 세계화의 물결을 수용하여 다문화적 교육과정을 제공하고 있다. 또한 복합 적성격의도시화에 따른 도시화선교과정을 두고 있었다.
