Environmental problems turns into the type of environmental conflicts arising from the difference in world views regarding ecosystem, beyond the problem of the emission of pollutants and the problems of the victims caused by the pollutants, in the past. In the state of environmental conflicts like this, diverse methods are mobilized to hold fast to the their claims and world views, but the appropriate understandings of ecosystem are omitted in its process. The difference in the attitudes toward the ecosystem arising from the difference in world views affects on the environmental education which is perceived as a fundamental alternative for the environmental problems. In this respect, the approach through‘ Dooyeweerd’s Modality Theory’points out that the cause of environmental problems is due to the decadence of humans; enables the balanced and comprehensive understanding of ecosystem, through diverse academic modalities; defines the investigating the ecosystem, being limited to a specific modality, as the secularization of studies. In addition to this, the Christian education curriculum based on ‘Dooyeweerd’s Modality Theory’ suggested by Van Brummelen enables the understanding of ecosystem in the aspect of not only science, but also psychology, society, culture and religion; helping us to have the balanced angle of views on the environmental problems. However, to apply this modality theory to real world, the participations of many experts are needed; and because of the trend in which the individual study is scientifically integrated, there is the difficulty in sustaining the uniqueness of each academic modality and securing the integrity.

환경문제는 과거 오염물질 배출과 그로 인한 피해자 사이의 문제에서 벗어나 생태 계에 대한 세계관의 차이에서 오는 환경갈등의 형태로 변하고 있다. 이런 환경갈등 의 상황에서는 자신들의 주장과 세계관을 관철시키기 위해 다양한 방법을 동원하나 그 과정에서 오히려 생태계에 대한 올바른 이해가 누락되는 경우가 발생하고 있다. 세계관의 차이로 인해 발생하는 생태계에 대한 태도의 차이는 환경문제의 근본적인 대안으로 인식되는 환경교육에도 영향을 주고 있다. 이런 상황에서 생태계에 대한 도예베르트(Herman Dooyeweerd)의 양상이론을 통한 접근은 환경문제의 원인이 인간의 타락으로 인한 것이라고 지적하고, 다양한 학문 양상을 통해 생태계에 대한 포괄적이고 균형 있는 이해가 가능하게 하며, 특정 양상에 국한되어 생태계를 파악 하는 것을 학문의 세속화로 규정하고 있다. 이와 더불어 브루멜른(Herro Van Brummelen)이 제시한 도예베르트의 양상이론을 바탕으로 한 기독교적 교육과정 은 생태계에 대한 과학적 측면에서 뿐만 아니라 심리·사회·문화·종교적 측면에 서 이해할 수 있도록 해 환경문제에 균형있는 관점을 가지도록 도울 수 있다. 그러나 이런 양상이론을 실제에 적용하기 위해서는 다양한 전문가들의 동참이 필요하 고, 최근 개별 학문이 과학화되어 통합되는 경향이 있어 각 학문 양상의 독특성을 유지하면서통전성을확보해야하는어려움이있다.
