In part 2, as an “outsider” to Korean culture, I attempt to understand various popular cultural movements in Korea based on my understanding of the socio-historical developments that I explored in part 1. As an “experiment” in cross-cultural understanding, I do not claim what I am presenting is the correct perspective, but it is based on the vast amount of literature I have read by Korean scholars in English.
