This study makes an attemt to link the theory of ‘Energy-Climate Era(E.C.E)’ presented by Thomas Friedman and the theory of ‘The Third Industrial Revolution’ presented by Jeremy Rifkin. Through this operation this study aims to present new understanding and reconstructing and to propose to the task and direction of democratic citizenship education and politics. The major matters of this study are as follows;(1) Megatrend of the 21st century and the inevitability and destructibility climate change and energy crisis. (2) The contents of the theory of ‘Energy-Climate Era(E.C.E)’ and ‘The Third Industrial Revolution’(3) The responsibility of the politics and the citizenship education in the era of the third industrial revolution in the climate change. (4) The investigation of the advanced alternative the era of the third industrial revolution in the climate change.

이 연구는 토머스 프리드먼(Thomas Friedman)이 제시한 ‘에너지-기후시대론’과 제러미 리프킨(Jemy Rifkin)이 제시한 ‘3차 산업혁명론’을 연계하여 정치와 민주시민교육적 관점에서 발전적으로 재구성·재인식하고 21세기 정치와 민주시민교육의 과제와 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 나아가서 민주시민교육의 1차적 책무를 부여받고 있는 통합교과인 사회과, 사회과교육의 미래 방향성 제시에 일조할 것을 기대한다. 이 연구는 다음의 네 가지 문제를 중심으로 논의를 구성하고 있다. (1) 21세기 메가트렌드 및 기후변화와 에너지 수급 불균형 위기의 필연성과 파괴성, (2) 에너지-기후시대론과 3차 산업혁명론의 내용, (3) 기후변화에 따른 3차산업혁명시대 정치의 과제와 방향, (4) 기후변화에 따른 3차산업혁명시대 민주시민교육의 과제와 방향, (5) 기후변화에 따른 3차 산업혁명시대 민주시민교육의 발전적 대안의 탐색
