This study will analyze the influence of the new media technology on the transformations of socio-cultural and political perspectives in the Digital Age. New media technologies have led people to involve in social and political issues. And it is clear to confirm that the new media of communication has established active political citizenship in the contemporary society. This study will examine two major transformations of communication capacities in our digital age. First, it has transformed the concept of geographies in online world. The new media technology makes people’s thoughts from local to the global societies. The public opinion that is created by innovated ways from new media has transformed the mass communication to the ‘mass self-communication’. Secondly, the new media accelerates the rise of individuals’ autonomy. Many of social movements on diverse issues around the world are activating efficiently, and their campaigns are now being taken seriously to the authorities of society.

본 논문은 디지털 시대에 새로운 미디어 기술들의 영향력에 대하여 고찰한다. 특히 미디어 기술에 의한 사회, 문화, 그리고 정치적 지각변동을 주요한 내용으로 다루고 있다. 새로운 미디어 기술들은 사람들로 하여금 사회와 정치 문제에 있어서 더욱 적극적으로 그리고 능동적으로 접근 할 수 있는 계기를 마련하였 다. 현대 사회에서 새로운 정보 기술들은 수용자의 정치적 참여를 능동적/적극적으로 만든 것은 분명하다. 본 논문은 디지털 시대의 두 가지 중요한 변화에 대하여 고찰 할 것이다. 첫째, 온라인 네트워크를 통한 커뮤니케이션의 지각변동이다. 새로운 기술은 사람들로 하여금 지역의 사회에서 글로벌 사회와 소통 할 수 있게 만들었다. 혁신적인 기술을 바탕으로 형성 되어지는 여론들은 매스커뮤니케이션을 매스셀프커뮤 니케이션의 개념으로 전환하게 만들었다. 두 번째로는 새로운 미디어 기술들이 개인의 자율성을 높이는 기능에 대하여 연구하였다. 특히 다양한 사회적 이슈들을 둘러싼 사회운동들이 효율적으로 활성화 되면서 사회의 권위층에 전달되어지는 과정을 살펴 볼 것이다.
