This study analyzed cast members' image targeting a real variety show that cast members' appearance, personality, and behavior can be literally implemented as character in light of the reality characteristic. ‘Physiognomical image as a natural man’ and ‘character image’ in the reality show cast members were comparatively analyzed its correlation by applying the classification by type of being suggested in physiognomy. There is its significance in a sense of having applied physiognomical element to analyzing the image of the show cast members. Cast members' character image on a reality show has considerably close relationship with physiognomical image of being seen externally. Physiognomical image, which is shown mainly through appearance, will be said to be a very important element in forming character image. True reality comes to be shown when proceeding with completing character of conforming with cast member's own physiognomical characteristic. More familiar and natural character image can arouse viewers' sympathy.

본 연구에서는 리얼리티 특성상 출연자들의 외모, 성격, 행동 등이 그대로 캐릭터로 구축될 수 있는 리얼 예능프로그램을 대상으로 출연자들의 이미지를 분석하였다. 리얼 예능프로그램 출연자들의 ‘자연인으로서 의 인상학적 이미지’와 ‘캐릭터 이미지’를 인상학에서 제시하는 유형별 분류를 적용하여 그 상관성을 비 교․분석하였다. 이미 애니메이션, 연극, 영화 등 다양한 분야에서 인상학을 활용하고 있는데, 이를 확장하 여 리얼 예능프로그램 출연자들의 이미지 분석에 인상학적 요소를 활용하였다는데 그 의의가 있다. 리얼 예능프로그램에서 출연자들의 캐릭터 이미지는 외형적으로 보이는 인상학적 이미지와 상당히 밀접한 관련 성을 가지며, 외모를 통해 주로 나타나는 인상학적 이미지는 캐릭터 이미지를 형성하는데 있어서 매우 중 요한 요소라 할 것이다. 출연자 자신의 인상학적 특성에 부합하는 캐릭터를 완성해나갈 때, 진정한 리얼리 티를 보여주게 되는 것이며, 보다 친근하고 자연스러운 캐릭터 이미지가 시청자들의 공감을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 것이다.
