Health-related information is prevalent in online media such as hospital websites, health information websites, major web portals, and news sites. Thanks to the Internet, people have free access to an unlimited number of health information resources, ranging from trivial to important contents, yet they often fail to properly utilize such salient knowledge to enhance the quality of their lives. The embedded mixed emotions within online health-related information or contents may play critical roles in their dissemination. Therefore, this study explores the effects of elicited mixed emotions on internal information diffusion (the attributes of comments to health news) and external information diffusion (the sharing of health news via Facebook and Twitter). Using health-related news contents collected from major news websites in the U.S., such relationships will be statistically analyzed.
