As the environmental problem due to urbanization and industrialization gets more serious by the day, the change appeared in design industry. As we enter to 21 century, the sustainable design which defined as a concept of eco-friendly, green design is recognized as development-oriented design activity that combined economy, society and environment. The discussion about clear definition of sustainable design`s concept and strategic approach is ongoing in fashion design field, however we have shortfall in the type research of toddler clothing based on this. Thus, the purpose of this study is to suggest the design that sustainable in design, production and use, and also the design that enhance environmental ·social quality. This study also put its purpose on study toddler clothing`s design which stimulate toddler`s physical, emotional, intellectual growth by giving interesting change in order for toddler to not to get bored even when they wear it for long time, and also making it changeable accordingly to toddler`s physical growth. It used organic cotton which recognized as a try of sustainable fashion design, and suggested new direction for sustainable design by suggesting clothing design so that 4~7 years old girl can wear it for 4 more further years. In order to do so, I searched concept and characteristic of sustainable fashion design, definition of toddler, and feature of toddler clothing`s design by collecting·investigating various reference books, researches, and internet. I designed and created 9 of toddler clothing work which can satisfy the factors of sustainable fashion design by understanding toddler`s physical, emotional and intellectual characteristic and characteristic of toddler clothing based on this theoretical background.

도시화, 산업화로 인한 환경문제의 심각성이 날로 심각해짐에 따라 디자인 분야에서도 변화가 나타나기 시작했다. 친환경, 그린 디자인의 개념으로 정의되었던 지속가능 디자인은 21세기에 들어서면서 경제, 사 회, 환경을 통합한 발전 지향적 디자인 활동으로 인식되고 있다. 지속가능한 디자인 개념에 대한 명확한 정의와 전략적 접근에 대한 논의가 패션 디자인 분야에서도 진행되고 있지만 이를 토대로 한 유아복의 유 형연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 유아의 신체적인 성장에 따라 변화가 가능하며 유아가 오 래 입어도 싫증을 내지 않도록 디자인에 흥미로운 변화를 주어 유아의 신체적, 정서적, 지적 성장에도 자 극이 되는 유아복 디자인을 연구하는데 목적을 두었다. 지속가능한 패션디자인의 시도로서 인식되고 있는 오가닉 코튼을 사용하였고 4∼7세의 여아가 향후 4년간 편안하고 오래 입을 수 있는 의복 디자인을 제시 하여 새로운 방향의 지속가능한 디자인을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 지속가능한 패션디자인의 개념과 특성, 유아의 정의와 유아복의 디자인 특성을 살펴보았다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 유아의 신체적, 정서 적, 지적 특성 및 유아복의 특성을 파악하여 지속가능한 패션 디자인의 요인을 충족시킬 수 있는 유아복 작품 9점을 디자인하고 제작하였다. 그 결과, 디테일에 따라 다양한 연출이 가능하여 유아의 성장에 따른 변화폭을 수용할 수 있는 작품이 완성되었고 이는 지속가능한 패션디자인의 원리에 부합한 효과적인 모형 이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
