The purpose of this study is to review the support rate of Yeongnam region in the 18th presidential election, and to understand the change of their voting behaviour and political implication in Korean politics. Actually, the party support rate of Busan and Gyeongnam region among Yeongnam region has been changed in recently elections, this change aspect became known more obviously in this election. Busan and Gyeongnam voters were strong supporters of Saenuri Party in the past, but 40 percentages of them voted for the candidate of Democratic United Party, it’s opposite party in this election. This electoral result is meaning of new change possibility of voting behaviour based on regionalism in Korean election. Undoubtedly, this result is still not sufficient change because total support rate of Yeongnam region including Daegu and Gyeongbuk region is more stronger for Saenuri Party. However, this electoral result makes new consideration for party politics and electoral strategy in Korean electoral politics.

이 연구는 제18대 대통령선거 과정에서 영남지역 유권자들의 후보지지율을 고찰함으로써 이들의 투표행태 변화를 분석하고, 변화의 주요 요인과 정치적 함의를 파악하는데 주요 목적이 있다. 현실적으로 영남지역 중 부산을 비롯한 경남지역의 정당지지도는 최근 선거과정에서 점진적 변화가 포착되었으며, 이번 대통령선거에서도 그 변화 양상이 보다 뚜렷하게 표출되었다. 과거 새누리당의 전통적 지지기반이었던 부산과 경남지역은 이번 선거에서 40%에 가까운 유권자가 민주통합당 후보를 지지함으로써 지역적 기반을 중심으로 한 투표행태의 새로운 변화 가능성을 보여주었다. 물론 이러한 선거 결과는 대구⋅경북지역을 포함한 전체 영남지역을 놓고 살펴볼 때 아직도 불충분한 변화라고 평가할 수 있으나, 향후 선거과정에서 정당정치 및 선거전략에 있어서 새로운 고려를 필요로 하게 되었다.
