This study starts from a question how Physical Education can be consolidated with other related academic disciplines and create new acquaintance. The concept of ‘Consilience’ proposed by Edward O. Wilson is also creating a sensation among the academic society in Korea, and such sensation impacts on the society of Physical Education as well. Since Physical Education, which deals with both body and mind, is characterized as an interdisciplinary study, it can be perceived that Physical Education basically aims Consilience. Yet, there is no such active discussion about Consilience among the Korean society of Physical Education. Especially, there is no attention on the question how the Consilience was fulfilled among the different disciplines within Korean tradition. Four Phase Typology proposed by Lee Je-ma is a theory which explains the pathology as regarding strength and weakness of internal organs. It divides four categories of people as Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeumin and Soeumin; then, it contends that the causes of disease differ by each category and that the treatment shall also be distinguished by each category. From the perspective of Physical Education, factors of Consilience between Arts and Science as well as between body and mind are inherent in Lee je-ma’s Four Phase Typology. As clarifying such factors, future-oriented discussion on the Consilience of Physical Education was attempted in this study.
