The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of dance sport as a leisure activity of the middle-aged on the flow experience and the quality of life. The subjects were composed of 297 persons participated in dance sport activity in Seoul. Data was collected using a survey questionnaire, with a convenience sampling method. To analyze data, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA(analysis of variance) and multiple regression analysis were executed by using SPSS 17.0. As a result, we obtained the conclusion as follows. First, the degree of the participation in dance sport had partially a statistically significant influence on the flow experience. That is, the frequency of participation had a statistically significant influence on the cognitive commitment and the behavioral commitment, which are factors of flow experience. The intensity of participation had only a statistically significant influence on the behavioral commitment. The period of participation did not have a statistically significant influence on the flow experience. Second, the flow experience in dance sport had a statistically significant influence on the quality of life. That is, the cognitive commitment had a statistically significant influence on physical health domain, social relationships domain, and environmental domain, which are factors of quality of life. The behavioral commitment did not have a statistically significant influence on the quality of life. Third, the degree of the participation in dance sport did not have a statistical significant influence on the quality of life.
