This study investigated response inhibition in 400 undergraduate students divided into a psychopathic trait and control group according to the scores of Psychopathic Personality Inventory-Revised. Thirteen psychopathic trait subjects and 13 control subjects performed a visual Go/NoGo task that required participants to respond to Go condition and to inhibit response to NoGo condition. Event-related potentials were collected as participants performed the Go/NoGo task. The statistical analysis of P3 elicited by NoGo stimuli indicated that the psychopathic trait group showed significantly reduced NoGo-P3 amplitudes than the control group at the frontocentral and central area. The PDQ-Antisocial personality disorder subscores had significant negative correlations with NoGo-P3 amplitudes at the frontocentral and central area. The psychopathic trait group showed significantly longer NoGo-N2 latencies than the control group at the central and parietal area. These results support the hypothesis that the neural processes involved in response inhibition are abnormal in individuals with psychopathic traits.

본 연구는 정신병질 특성을 가진 사람들의 반응억제를 알아보기 위해 사건관련전위 요인을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 400명의 대학생들을 대상으로 정신병질성격검사를 실시하여 그 점수에 따라 13명의 정신병질 특성집단과 13명의 통제집단을 선별하였다. 시각 Go/NoGo 과제를 실시하였는데, 모든 피험자들은 Go 자극에 버튼을 누르고 NoGo 자극에 버튼을 누르지 않도록 지시를 받았으며, 과제를 실시하는 동안 사건관련전위를 측정하였다. 전두중심영역과 중심영역에서 정신병질 특성집단이 통제집단에 비해 유의미하게 감소된 NoGo-P3 진폭을 나타냈고 전두중심과 중심영역에서 NoGo-P3 진폭과 성격진단도구의 반사회적 성격장애점수사이에 유의미한 부적 상관이 나타났다. 중심영역과 두정영역에서 정신병질 특성집단이 통제집단에 비해 더 긴 NoGo-N2 잠재기를 나타냈다. 이러한 결과는 정신병질 특성을 가지고 있는 대학생들이 반응억제와 관련된 신경처리가 비정상적이라는 것을 보여준다.
