This study is an empirical study on the effects between the NIKKEI 225 stock market in Japan and Dubai oil index. We examine the interdependence of the NIKKEI 225 stock market in Japan and Dubai oil index. for 456 daily data. We employ impulse response function based on VAR model as well as variance decomposition after unit root tests and cointegration test. The finding that many macro time series may contain a unit root has spurred the development of the theory of non-stationary time series analysis. Engle and Granger(1987) pointed out that a linear combination of two or more non-stationary series may be stationary. If such a stationary linear combination exists, the non-stationary time series are said to be cointegrated. This research showed following main results. First, from basic statistic analysis, both the NIKKEI 225 stock market in Japan and Dubai oil index has unit roots, Second, there is at least one cointegration between them.

이 연구는 일본 NIKKEI 225 지수와 두바이 유가의 2010년 4월 16일부터 2011년 11월 18일까지 456개의 자료로 일본 NIKKEI 225 지수와 두바이 유가의 두 가지 지표에 미친 영향을 분석하고 각 시장이 어떻게 연계되어 있으며 그들 시장간 영향력의 정도를 분석하고자한 논문이다. 이 연구에서 사용한 차분자료로는 자연로그 수익률 자료를 사용하였다. 이 연구에 사용된 연구 모형으로는 시계열의 안정성 여부의 판정을 위한 단위근 검정과 공적분(cointegration)검정을 하였고, 상호영향력 분석을 위한 VAR모형을 이용한 예측오차의 분산분해기법, Granger 인과관계 검정을 이용하였다. 이 연구의 중요한 결과들을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 일본 주식시장의 지표인 NIKKEI 225 지수와 두바이 유가의 원시계열자료에 대한 안정성검정 결과 불안정적인 것으로 나타났고, 일본 주식시장의 지표인 NIKKEI 225 지수와 두바이 유가 자료의 1차 차분시계열자료에 안정성검정 결과는 모두 안정적임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 일본 주식시장의 지표인 NIKKEI 225 지수와 두바이 유가 자료간에는 공적분관계가 존재하고, 일본 주식시장의 지표인 NIKKEI 225 지수는 두바이 유가에 그레인저 인과관계는 것으로 나타났다. 이상을 종합해 보면 일본의 NIKKEI 225 지수와 두바이 유가간의 상관계수는 –0.295722의 음(-)의 관계를 보여주고 있다.
