In this study we refer to study records to investigate the cover conditions, degree and path of pollutions on playgrounds in school as field of activities for students in growing formative years. Some playgrounds had switched to the grass-based status with the recognitions for the public health and environment, therefore we developed fillers that contain natural ingredients such as ocher and ginkgo leaves for turf. From the results of assays be the relevant standards, such as heavy metals and hazardous substances were not detected, The PAHs were detected in less than 1 mg/kg, which is much lower than the standard value of 10 mg/kg. So they were expected to provide safety space for outdoor activities. With more researches on the school playground in future, it should be done the playground features as a function of safe space that can respond to harmful environmental factors, but also inherent function.

본 연구에서는 문헌고찰을 통하여 성장 발육기에 있는 학생들의 주요 활동공간인 학교운동장에 대 하여 표면 피복상태 및 환경오염의 정도와 경로가 조사되었다. 대부분 흙을 기반으로 조성되어 있는 학교운동장은 보건 환경에 대한 무관심과 조성 및 유지관리에 소요되는 비용만을 고려한 잘못된 판단으로 중금속 등 다양한 유해물질이 존재 하는 것으로 나타났 다. 학교 보건환경에 대한 중요성이 인식되면서 잔디를 기반으로 하는 운동장으로 전환되고 있으며, 따라서 황토와 은행 나무 잎 등 천연재료를 포함하는 잔디운동장용 충진제를 개발하였다. 관련기준에 의하여 분석실험 을 한 결과 중금속과 같은 유해물질은 거의 검출되지 않았으며 PAHs만 1 mg/kg 이하로 검출되었으며, 이는 기준인 10 mg/kg보다 훨씬 낮은 값을 나타내었다. 개발된 충진제는 환경적 활동공간을 제공하는 데에 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 학교 운동장에 대한 보다 많은 연구가 진행되어 단순한 운동장으로서의 기능뿐만 아니라 유해한 환경요소로부터 안전한 활동 공간으로서의 기능이 함께 이루어져야 할 것으로 판단된다.
