The Effect of Child's Perceived Parents' Attachment on Anger : Focused on the Mediating Effect of Anger Thoughts, and Self-Esteem

This study is to investigate the mediating effect influenced by the anger thought and self-esteem of the upper grade students in elementary school between their relationship of attachments to parents and anger. For this purpose, scale of Parent and Peer Attachment, scale of Children's Anger, scale of anger thought, self-esteem of the students were used for 439 male and female 5th and 6th grade elementary school students of Incheon Metropolitan City to implement the questionnaire survey. The result of this research is as follows. First, as looking into the correlations between attachment to parents and anger of child, attachment to parents has static negative correlations with the attachment to parents and anger. In other word, as attachment to parents is higher, the anger is lower. As looking into the correlations attachment to parents and anger, the correlations attachment to parents and self-esteem, the has static negative correlations with the attachment to parents and anger. As a result of looking at the relationship between attachment to parents and the anger relationship, between attachment to parents and self-esteem, it showed each negative correlations and positive correlations. It showed that as attachment to parents is stable, the anger is lower and self-esteem is higher. And, second, as a result of verifying the mediated effect of between attachment to parents and anger of child, complete mediated model is adopted to this study which the attachment to parents affects anger through anger thought and self-esteem, rather than the partial mediated model which attachment to parents directly affects anger.
