In recent years, new renewable energy like sunlight·wind power and surplus energy of electric vehicle have gotten the limelight in operating power system. Although these energy sources are eco-friendly, it is hard to control and predict the amount of power generation. Therefore, to operate power system efficiently and stably, this paper presents informing price of electricity to maintain balance of power supply and demand. To realize this technology, building AMI should be preceded which is optimal infrastructure for system operator to inform the price of electricity to participants in power system. This paper suggests present condition of domestic (Republic of Korea) AMI and building plan for future AMI. In particular, placing emphasis on civilian industry which will be in charge of aggregate buildings; being not under control of Korea electric power, this paper defines system structure of AMI and information flow in AMI system.
